How would Jesus respond to…?

Marketing is a billion dollar business. How people perceive a

product often determines how much of that product will be bought.

Perhaps the best marketing ploy of all is the advertising slogan or jingle.

How would Jesus respond to some of the most well known advertising

slogans of our time?

                1. Burger King’s ad says:  “Have it your way”.

Jesus says: Do it my way.

                                a. John 14:15 → If ye love me, keep my commandments.

                                b. John 14:23 → If a man love me, he will keep my words…

c. Matthew 7:21 → Not every one that saith unto me, Lord,

Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth

the will of my Father which is in heaven.

                2. Nike says:  “Just do it”.

Jesus says:  Look before you leap.

a. Luke 14:28 → For which of you, intending to build a tower, sitteth

not down first, and counteth the cost, whether he have sufficient to

finish it?

b. Proverbs 14:29 → He that is slow to wrath is of great understanding:

but he that is hasty of spirit exalteth folly.

                3. Chik-Fil-A says:  “Eat more chiken”.

Jesus says:  Feast on God’s word.

a. Deuteronomy 8:3 (Matt. 4:4) → … that he might make thee know

that man doth not live by bread only, but by every word that proceedeth

out of the mouth of the LORD doth man live.

b. Matthew 5:6 → Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after

righteousness: for they shall be filled.

c. John 6:51 → I am the living bread which came down out of heaven:

if any man eat of this bread, he shall live for ever: yea and the bread which

I will give is my flesh, for the life of the world.

In all fairness, not everything the world teaches contradicts the word of God.

However, no matter what is taught in the world, no matter what certain businesses

try and make us believe, God is real and active in our lives. If you choose to ignore

that fact now, you will not be able to ignore it later. Heed God as He says “This is my

beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased; hear ye him” (Matthew 17:5).
