Caramel-spice-oatmeal Cookies

INGREDIENTS

2/3 c Flour
1/2 t Salt
1/2 t Baking soda
1/4 t Cinnamon
1/4 t Nutmeg
1/2 c Sugar
1/2 c Light brown sugar, packed
1/2 c Butter or margarine
softened
1 Egg
1/2 t Vanilla extract
1 1/2 c Quick-cooking oats
1/4 c Chopped walnuts

INSTRUCTIONS

In large bowl mix flour, salt, baking soda, cinnamon and nutmeg. Add
sugars, butter, egg and vanilla. Beat until smooth. Stir in oats and
walnuts. Shape in two 1-1/2 inch diameter rolls. Wrap in waxed paper;
chill thoroughly at least 3 hours. Slice 1/4 inch thick. Place 2
inches apart on ungreased baking sheets. Bake in preheated 350 degree
oven 10 to 12 minutes or until golden brown. Immediately remove to
racks to cool.  NOTES : These are crisp, a little lacy and subtly
