by J. Randal Matheny © 2012Jesus, touch our cold and hardened hearts,
And fill them with the warmth of heaven's love;
Begone temptation's charms and Ahab's arts,
To sell ourselves for evil's heavy glove.Lord, purify our souls as we obey
Your truth, to show fraternal love sincere;
Renew our souls as worldly goods decay,
With eyes that watch for the end in trembling fear.Enlarge our fields, while we remain content,
For greater harvest let us never relent;
Keep from our hearts the vileness of Jezebel,
That makes of men twice a child of hell.Mercy, O Lord, grant us your will to heal!
If we might touch only your garment's thread,
To feel your life in us, come back from the dead—
Before your kind, benevolent gaze we kneel.— ‹‹ @@ ›› —
