My Portion
by J. Randal Matheny © 2012

The boundary lines of my life mark out delightful country,
my heritage pleases me well. —Psalm 16.6 OEB

For showers to clean and wake me in the morn,
For a covered bed that gives me nightly rest,
For early light inviting fresh designs,
I give you thanks, O Lord, for all that's best;
My portion falls for me in pleasant lines,
The winded sun now setting in the west,
Revealed this day my God, my Rock, my Horn.
