The Burning of Big Tex
by J. Randal Matheny © 2012

The man, O Texas, burns,
No desert burning his,
But up in ashes is
The salary that he earns.

The Texas Man presides
O'er commerce' annual fair,
His fire bids us beware,
As job employment slides.

Next year Big Tex will rise,
In brighter, better gear,
If Tex can engineer
A vote to match his size.
