Please continue to pray for us, though. I'm about 20 miles south of the Grand
Prix and Old fires, which merged last night. It is so smokey here that I cant
see the hills less than a mile from my house. These very hills were the
location of the Pass fire, which was controlled last Friday. My
brother-in-law's family has a cabin in the Lake Arrowhead area and he went up
Saturday to remove personal items "just in case" and was turned back at the
base of the mountain.
Due to four years of drought and the resulting Bark Beatle infestation, which
has killed about 30% of the pine trees in our SoCal forests, the mountains are
like a tinder box.
The firefighters are working 32 hours on/ 8 hours off shifts. The three fires
in my area are suspected to have all been set by the same person.
