INGREDIENTS

1/2 c Dates, stoned
2 tb Raisins, Seedless
1 ts Cumin, ground
1 ts Chile powder
1 ts Tamarind Pulp
1/2 c Cold water
3/4 ts Salt; or to taste
1 ts Brown sugar, soft

INSTRUCTIONS

1. Put all the ingredients in a food processor & add half the water. Switch
on & when the ingredients are half ground add the remaining water & blend
until fairly smooth.
2. Pour the sauce into a strainer & push it through with a metal spoon
until a dry & coarse mixture is left in the sieve - discard this mixture &
transfer sauce to a serving bowl. Garnish with sliced dates, if desired.
