INGREDIENTS

1 c Sugar
1 tb Butter; Melted
2 Eggs
1/2 ts Salt
1 ts Vanilla
1 c Walnuts; Chopped
1 c Dates; Chopped
1/2 c Hot Water
1 c Flour
1 ts Baking Powder
Cherries Or Coconut; Optional

INSTRUCTIONS

1. Heat oven to 350 degrees.
2. Put dates in hot water.
3. Cream sugar and butter.
4. Add eggs, salt and vanilla and mix well.
5. Add nuts, dates and hot water.
6. Alternate with flour and baking powder. Mix well.
7. Place in greased and floured 9 x 12" pan.
8. Bake for 1/2 hour or until it leaves the side of pan.
You can spread the coconut and cherries on top or mix with the nuts and
dates.
