INGREDIENTS

1 1/4 c Flour
1 3/4 ts Baking powder
3/4 ts Salt
3/4 c Sugar
1/3 c Shortening
1 Egg, unbeaten
1/2 c Milk
1 ts Vanilla
1/4 c Brown sugar
2 tb Butter, melted
1/4 c Each of chopped apple and peach

INSTRUCTIONS

Sift together the flour, baking powder, salt, and sugar. Now add the
shortening, egg, milk, and vanilla. Beat for 3 minutes with mixer.
Cover bottom of a well greased 8x8x2-inch square pan with 1/4 cup brown
sugar and 2 tbsp melted butter.
Arrange the fruit over the bottom of pan and pour batter over fruit. Bake
at 350F for 35-40 minutes. Serve warm or cool.
