INGREDIENTS

1/2 c Molasses
1/2 c Orange juice
1 c Raisins
1 c Chopped mixed candied fruit
1 Apple; pared and chopped
1 tb Grated orange rind
2 Eggs; slightly beaten
1 c Chopped nuts
1/2 c (2 oz) ground suet
3/4 c Fine dry bread crumbs
1/2 c Sifted flour
1 ts Baking powder
1/2 ts Baking soda
1/4 c Sugar
1/2 ts Each salt and cinnamon
1/4 ts Each; allspice and ground cloves

INSTRUCTIONS

Workbasket Recipes: This issue (December 72) has so many intriguing
recipes.
Combine molasses and orange juice. Let stand 1 hour over raisins, candied
friit, apple and orange rind. Combine beaten eggs, nuts, suet and bread
crumbs. Sift in remaining ingredients; blend well. Add fruit mixture; mix
well. Turn into a greased 2 quart pudding mold with tight-fitting cover, or
cover with aluminum foil and tie securely. Place on rack in deep kettle;
pour in boiling water to half the depth of mold. Cover; steam 5 hours,
adding more boiling water during steaming if necessary. Serve warm with
softened ice cream or pudding sauce. Makes 12 servings.
