Hawaiian Fruit Bread-Oldie

INGREDIENTS

1 c Dates — chopped
1 c Pineapple juice —
Unsweetened
2 tb Butter
3/4 c Honey
1 Egg
1 1/2 c Flour — sifted
1 c Nut meats
1/4 ts Salt
2 ts Baking powder

INSTRUCTIONS

Heat Pineapple Juice,add the dates and cook over low fire, stirring
occasionally until mixture is thick; cool. Cream honey and butter(or
Shortening) add beaten egg and date mixture and nut meats. Sift together
dry ingredients and add to creamed mixture and dates. Pour into well
greased Loaf pan 10x4x3 the bottom of which has been lined with wax paper,
to keep from sticking. Makes it easier to remove from pan.
Bake in a moderately slow oven (325 F) for one hour. This bread will slice
better if made and left to sit overnight, using the next day. Source: Old
Hand written Journal of the Clouds' 1943 was the last entry. the first that
we can identify is 1902. I have done the best of my ability to translate
ingredients, some we have used over the years some we have not. But all
have been Great, and sooo Good.
