16 oz can garbanzo beans; rinsed and drained |

16 oz can red kidney beans; rinsed and drained |

14 oz can whole peeled tomatoes; drained and chopped (reserve liquid) |

Uncooked lentils; rinsed |

Hot cooked rice; brown or regular |

Shredded cheddar cheese |
INSTRUCTIONS
In large saucepan, combine all ingredients except rice and cheese. Bring
to a boil, then simmer covered for 20 minutes or until lentils are almost
tender. Remove cover and simmer, stirring occasionally, an additional 30
minutes or until liquid is almost absorbed and lentils are tender. Serve,
if desired, over rice and top with shredded cheese.
NOTES : May substitute the onion soup with onion-mushroom or
beefy-mushroom
soup mix.
