Let us thank God heartily as often as we pray that we have His Spirit in us to teach us to pray. Thanksgiving will draw our hearts out to God and keep us engaged with Him; it will take our attention from ourselves and give the Spirit room in our hearts.

Massachusetts Corn Bread

INGREDIENTS

1 c Yellow cornmeal
1 c Flour
1 ts Sugar
1/2 ts Salt
4 ts Baking powder
1 Egg
1 c Milk
1/2 c Melted shortening

INSTRUCTIONS

Preheat oven to 425 F. Sift dry ingredients in mixing bowl. Add egg,
milk, and shortening. Stir until blended, do not overbeat. Grease 8-inch
square pan or iron skillet. Heat on top of stove and pour in batter. Bake
in the oven 20 to 25 minutes.
Serves 8 to 10.
