INGREDIENTS

2 Sticks butter; room temperature
1/2 c Crisco
3 1/2 c Sugar
5 Eggs; room temp
3 c Flour
1/2 ts (t.) baking soda
1/4 ts Salt
1/2 ts Baking powder
1/2 c Cocoa
1 1/4 c Buttermilk; about

INSTRUCTIONS

Shortening means Criso here in the South and if you ever run across oleo,
that's margarine! This is my grandmother's recipe and it is absolutely
wonderful!!
Preheat oven to 350. Cream butter and Crisco and add sugar. Add eggs one at
a time Sift together flour, soda, salt , powder, and cocoa in a separate
bowl. Add flour mixture alternately with buttermilk, beginning and ending
with flour mixture. Add Vanilla Pour into tube pan that has been sprayed
with Baker's Joy or that has been greased and floured. Bake for about an
hour and a half or until broom straw or cake tester comes out clean when
stuck in.
