Bob I assume the contents of the help file is static. If it is small enough that you could store the default contents in the resource fork of your app, and then have the app build the file in the preferences folder the first time the program is run (i.e., if it doesn't find the help file, it builds one). Of course if the help file structure is complicated, or involves a large amount of resources or pictures, etc. this may not be practical. These both easily fit on a floppy disk. The user can easily copy the application to their hard drive, but how can I get the help file into the user's preferences folder? I realize that there are several commercial installers to do just this, but it seems like such over-kill for just two files. Is there an easy way to create an application that will copy these two files to their ultimate destinations- i.e. an installer, but a simplified one that can be written in FB?
