Subject: AppleTree1.3.3 - a statistics tool for multinomial modeling
AppleTree is an application for statistical modeling.
It allows to fit multinomial binary tree models of arbitrary size to
frequency data using the "General Processing Tree" algorithm developed by
Hu and Batchelder (1994).
AppleTree can read model files and data files written for the MS-DOS "MBT"
program developed by Xiangen Hu, University of Memphis, Tennessee.
Multinomial models can be created with a built in graphical editor.
Restrictions to the models can be added using a graphical interface.
AppleTree fits model parameters to frequency data, it provides estimates
for the free parameters together with confidence intervals, it provides
power analyses for a given model, and it allows for checking the
identifiability of a model.
AppleTree is freeware. It runs natively on both 680x0 and PowerPC Macs.
See for
latest informations.
Changes since version 1.2.1:
* Graphical model editor
* Power analysis
* Generates expected data sets for a given model
* MacOS 8.5 support (Appearance Manager, Navigation Services, proportional
scrollbars, etc.)
Requirements
* MacOS 7.5 or later
* Motorola 68020 or better (no FPU required) or any PowerPC.
PowerPC recommended.

Arybee 1.0.1
Argybee is a simple, freeware, RGB colour-Hex calculator.
This application is a very simple program to allow software (and web)
developers to calculate a hexadecimal representation of an RGB colour.
In addition the value of the RGB sliders is also displayed at the
left hand side of the window. This is useful when you are using
development environments that require the RGB colour in the form
RGB(red, green, blue) where the colours are a number from 0 to 255
(rather than hex).
Note that you can also enter a hexadecimal number into the 'Hex
Value' field, and Argybee will display the correct colour.
Argybee will run on all Macintosh computers. It requires 1300K of
free RAM, and a minimum of System 7.1.
A version for Windows 95 (minimum) is also available.
Cheers,
Allan

BioAssistant was designed to assist PCR chemists in everyday PCR
chemistry applications, such as probe setup and design, MasterMix
solution protocol setup, DNA sequence manipulation, and Peptide
visualization. It is based on Chaotic Software's first PCR chemistry
applcation, Probe Assistant, but takes it a huge step forward by
introducing a whole lot of new features, redesigned interface, and a
bunch more. Version 1.1 adds the ability to save PCR Master Mix setups,
as requested by several of our users.
More feedback, as usual, is very welcome at Chaotic Software. In this
case, though, applications of this nature must be accurate, and based
very much on what YOU, the chemistry (or other life science discipline)
lab user, would like to see in such a software package. Therefore, if
you find any bugs, or if you have some suggestions for improvement,
please let us know. We would love to make BioAssistant work for you in
all the ways you expect.

Calculator II v1.5
Copyright 1991-94, Joe Cicinelli.
Purpose:
Calculator II is a pleasant looking color multi-function calculator that runs as
an application under system 6.x or System 7. The calculator was written as an
application to be run under MultiFinder or System 7 alongside other
applications. It improves on AppleUs original calculator by adding
trigonometric functions, functions for base 10 and natural logorithms and their
inverses, hex-to-decimal and decimal-to-hex conversion, a percent
increase/decrease key, a memory function for storing values across uses of the
program, and all of these functions can be invoked by using the F-Keys on the
Apple Extended keyboard (F5 - F15). The calculator also allows users to correct
trailing digits of values entered on the display of the calculator through the
use of a backspace key. A Ticker Tape is also provided to display the results
of past calculations. Balloon help and general information about the program is
available under either the Help menu under System 6.x or the Balloon Help menu
under System 7. This software is being distributed as FREEware so give it a try
and let me know what you think!
This version of the calculator contains the following bug fixes and
enhancements:
- Fixed the mechanism for producing error dialogs.
- Added an option in the preferences dialog for showing the thousands separator
on both the display and ticker tape of the calculator.
- The Ticker Tape now will automatically open when the program launched if it
was left open the last time the calculator was used!
- Fixed an annoying flash in the help window when opened from About dialog box.
- Changed the format of the Preferences file (again!). Throw out your old
Calculator II Prefs file before using this version of the calculator.
- Fixed a bug that permitted the entry of a decimal separator in a Hex value.
- Fixed a bug that permitted the entry of Hex values as input to the Hex
function.
- Added support for non-U.S. formatted decimal and thousands place separators
(finally!). These characters can be changed from the Numbers control panel
under System 7.
- The calculator now does a better job remembering and restoring windows on
multiple montior systems.

Description:
-------------------------------------------------------
Curvz Builder
... is a Mac shareware program for high quality x,y graphs.
... features immediate plotting of imported data.
... is a graphically oriented plotting program with drawing facilities.
... provides data-sheets with calculator for easy data manipulation and
calculations.
... can generate plots from arithmetic expressions that may include
elementary functions.
... has a mathematically oriented text string editor.
... has a magnification tool for visual inspection of various details of
the plotted curves.
... can produce smooth curves from few data points.
... utilizes high resolution printing (e.g. spline curves on PostScript
Laser Writers).
The graph itself is the central item in the user interface of Curvz
Builder. Various tools for data handling - including data sheets and
calculator - are activated only when needed.
One can copy a table of data from, for example, a spread sheet program
or a text editor and paste it into a plot window. Curvz Builder then
plots the data as curves without any further action of the user. Curvz
Builder can import tables of data from a TEXT file directly into a plot
and immediately produce the curve(s). Optionally one may import, enter
or create the data in a data-sheet window of Curvz Builder and then plot
the curve(s) by simply pressing a button.
Curvz Builder treats each curve, frame of reference, scale or axis label
as an individual graphical object which can be changed, copied and
pasted. Various graphical elements can be added and modified with the
drawing tools.
Curvz Builder makes an effort to produce a visually appealing plot, but
you may change virtually all details of the plot to suit your needs.

This is a Tektronix 4010/VT100 emulator I found on AOL. It's a
little old and clunky, but apparently free. It was written by
Kenneth Chin-Purcell at the University of Minnesota in 1986.
For those who use Mathematica remotely (and may not have

FALCON-NC vers 2.0.1 RPN/Algeabraic Scientific calculator.
====================
This is not your ordinary calculator. Its a true RPN and ALGEABRIC
calculator in the same package. You can even switch mode right in the
middle of a problem solving sequence. It has superior formatting of
results ( 30 23 43 ) and even automatic ISO and US delimiter setting.
(if you use a coma in entering a number it use it as the delimiter, the
same for the period )
With this calculator you have on-the-fly base conversion, mixed base
arithmetic, unsigned numbers conversion, and more. The application has
been tested with machines from MacPlus and MAC OS 6.0.2 up to Mac OS 9.0
and the newest PowerBook G4 machines.
The Financial mode has automatic features that simplify the
calculation of the basic financial function of Interest, Present Value,
Future Value and Payments. It even has Canadian Mortgage calculation
functions.
It has been updated and tested to work on the latest G4 machine (
PowerBook included ). This application works as well with the older Mac
like the Plus and the SE.
The calculator has automatic continuous memory of 2000 registers.
There is also a lot of shortcuts for the various modes of the
calculator. .

From: Haxial
Subject: Haxial Calculator 1.2
Haxial Calculator is a high precision mathematical assistant that
evaluates normal (infix) expressions to practically any accuracy. Results
can be viewed in normal, fraction or scientific forms and the option of
working in a different radix no longer restricts you to the decimal
system. Worksheets enable you to solve larger problems in a more suited
environment as well as allowing you to save your work. In addition Haxial
Calculator incorporates unit and radix conversion utilities for your
convenience as well as complete support for variables.
Other calculator programs blindly attempt to copy physical hand-held
calculators by displaying buttons on the computer screen, and an
appearance and function that closely mimics a hand-held calculator. At
Haxial, we believe this approach is fundamentally flawed. A computer is a
far more powerful device than a hand-held calculator, and thus it is
illogical and limiting to duplicate hand-held calculators on a computer.
Haxial Calculator allows you to freely type expressions in a form natural
to humans and much more suited when using a computer keyboard. For
example, you can type a formula such as this into Haxial Calculator:
34 + e^(56 - 24.6487) * 1.24
When you press enter/return Haxial Calculator will interpret the
expression, check for syntax errors, evaluate the result and display it
to screen using the display mode and accuracy of your choice. Freely
typing expressions is far superior to other methods such as clicking
buttons.

|__CInfo__| This is a very simple calculator program I wrote with |
HyperCard 2.4b16. It is mouse-controlled and I also added a
feature that will allow you to remember a number for later use.
Since this version is my first, it has some bugs in it.
Here are ones that I know of right now:
+{ Bugs } +
Calculator cant calculate problems that contain multiple signs.
(In other words, it cant, yet, figure out what 12x12-3+142 is.)
The workarond to this is to do the first part (like 12x12) then
press the = button. Then you would start doing somthing like
this: 144-3 {equals} 141+14 {equals} 1552 {equals} 77.5. 77.5
would be your answer. (If you dont get this, ask me to send you
an GIF animation of me doing this.)
...................................................................
The data field does not clear after you have done a calculation
and pressed the = button. Instead it adds on to the answer.
This may be good or bad, so Im taking a servey on this: If you
think I should keep this feature, email me with Calculator =
Yes in the subject. Otherwise email me with Calculator = No in
the subject. :)

Well, anyway, if you have any questions, other bugs, or

Subject: Mortgage Maker 2.1 - Mortgage Qualification Calculator
Mortgage Maker 2.1 lets you play with the variables in a mortgage loan
to find the combination that lets you qualify. That's all it does, but
it does a nice job of it. The program computes the "qualifying ratios"
which lenders use to evaluate a loan application and it estimates the
amount of actual cash required at closing time. Its Backsolve feature
answers questions like "how much house can I afford on this income?" or
my favorite, "How much does my spouse/partner need to make for us to get
into that house." For refinances, the program compares your net monthly
payment with and without the refinance. If you are a real estate or
mortgage professional, the program is a handy way to create quick
estimates for clients. Mortgage Maker is free for personal use, and is
$10 for professional use. -- [email protected]

Subject: Parser 1.2.5
The Mathematical Expression Parser (a C++ library with full source code
and stand alone test app) can parse numerical expressions or functions
such as "sqrt( sin( 1.2e-3) - 2*y)", containing variables with arbitrary
names. It is written with function plotters, spreadsheets and curve
fitters in mind -- programs that need to very quickly evaluate the same
function many times, changing the values of variables in between.
Evaluation speeds are typically 30-90% as fast as directly compiled code.
(The included test application allows you to check this claim for
yourself.) Thus, this is among the fastest parsers available, yet safe
since it checks for error conditions such as division by zero before
conducting these operations.
Supports: +, -, *, /, %, ^ (power), -(unary), !, &&, ||, ==, !=, <=, >=,
<. >, ?: (for piecewise continuous functions), &, |, !& (XOR), ~, exp, ln,
log, abs, sqrt, ceil, floor, rand, sin, cos, tan, sec, csc, cot, asin,
acos, atan, asec, acsc, acot, sinh, cosh, tanh, sech, csch, coth, and the
following predefined constants: e, pi, true and false. Variables may have
any name and are not limited in number. Parenthesis are handled to
arbitrary depths. The library also does symbolic math and can take partial
derivatives. You can scrap the numerical methods and use this library to
directly evaluate derivatives at near compiled speeds! All calculations
(except bitwise operations) are done with double precision floating point
math. The included project file requires CW Pro 5, but the code base
should compile on pretty much anything on any system.
This code base is shareware, but is free for deployment in freeware
applications.

may be toggled on and off by clicking on the "Record" check box in the
tape window.
Version 5.0 also features built-in constants for atomic number and mass
values for all the elements on the periodic table. These may be easily
accessed and entered into the calculator from the constants palette.
Other function palettes contain buttons for unit conversions,
trigonometry, probability, exponential, integer, bitwise, relational, and
logical operations.
As always, PowerCalc supports full balloon help. If you ever have any
question about what a particular button does, just turn on balloon help
and point to it. A balloon will pop up explaining how to use the
feature. PowerCalc can store up to 1000 values in memory, and
PowerCalc's interface is completely customizable. PowerCalc 5.0 is 100%

Probability density functions e.g.: hypergeometric (Lucky 10, Lotto),
binomial (football toto), negative binomial, multinomial, Poisson,
normal. Cumulative distribution functions e.g.: standard normal and

Subject: TcTC 1.0, Timecode Converter and Calculator
TcTC is a timecode converter and calculator application.
Timecodes, edgecodes and framecounts can be converted into several
other formats simultaneously. The basic math operations can be
performed on these timecodes.
The supported TC formats are PAL, NTSC Drop, NTSC Non-Drop, HD/Film
24p, 35mm, 16mm20, 16mm40, framecount, as well as TC and EC formats
with freely selectable framerates (currently between 1 and 100
fps/fpe).
An offset management system deals with situations in which timecodes
have changed due to transfers. If the same frame that originated on a
piece of film and is identified there by an edgecode is transferred
to, say, two different tapes and ends up there having two entirely
unrelated timecodes, TcTC offers a method of establishing a relation
between these different, essentially arbitrary edgecodes and
timecodes and thus allows you to keep track of the footage in the
various places.
TcTC requires a Macintosh with a PPC processor and MacOS 8.5 or higher.
