File Name: corba-19990302-1a.ppc.rpm (1676 k)
Date: Apr 11, 1999
Corba for KOffice-19990302-qt14.
This RPM is relocatable - it installs by dafault in /opt/kde-test ban can
be relocated with rpm -i --prefix=?
This is te last KOffice snapshot prior to the move to Qt-2.0. I will also
be workin on the new KOffice (which is proving more challenging) after I
have more time.
I found an odd bug related to mico - which you will probably encounter if
you try to recompile this RPM - a workaround I found was to move a
copy of the following into /tmp/mico/[bin|include]. Then I could use
--with-micodir to keep my system from gagging. I need to investigate this
more thoroughly...
/usr/bin/eventd, /usr/bin/idl, /usr/bin/imr, /usr/bin/ird,
/usr/bin/mico-*, /usr/bin/micod, /usr/bin/nsadmin, /usr/bin/nsd
/usr/include/CORBA*
/usr/include/mico
/usr/include/ministl
File Name: dev-2.5.9-1c.ppc.rpm (88 k)
Date: Sep 27, 1998
Unix and unix like systems (including Linux) use file system entries

File Name: dump-0.3-13a.ppc.rpm (68 k)
Date: Aug 14, 1998
dump and restore can be used to backup extended 2 (ext2) partitions in
a variety of ways.
File Name: dump-0.4b5-1.ppc.rpm (96 k)
Date: Jun 27, 1999
The dump package contains both dump and restore. Dump examines files in
a filesystem, determines which ones need to be backed up, and copies
those files to a specified disk, tape or other storage medium. The
restore command performs the inverse function of dump; it can restore a
full backup of a filesystem. Subsequent incremental backups can then be
layered on top of the full backup. Single files and directory subtrees
may also be restored from full or partial backups.
Install dump if you need a system for both backing up filesystems and
restoring filesystems after backups.

File Name: ezmlm-idx-std-0.53.322-1.ppc.rpm (636 k)
Date: May 05, 1999
ezmlm lets users set up their own mailing lists within qmail's address
hierarchy. A user, Joe, types
ezmlm-make ~/SOS ~/.qmail-sos joe-sos isp.net
and instantly has a functioning mailing list, [email protected], with all
relevant information stored in a new ~/SOS directory.
ezmlm sets up joe-sos-subscribe and joe-sos-unsubscribe for automatic
processing of subscription and unsubscription requests. Any message to
joe-sos-subscribe will work; Joe doesn't have to explain any tricky
command formats. ezmlm will send back instructions if a subscriber sends
a message to joe-sos-request or joe-sos-help.
ezmlm automatically archives new messages. Messages are labelled with
sequence numbers; a subscriber can fetch message 123 by sending mail to
joe-sos-get.123. The archive format supports fast message retrieval even
when there are thousands of messages.
ezmlm takes advantage of qmail's VERPs to reliably determine the
recipient address and message number for every incoming bounce message.
It waits ten days and then sends the subscriber a list of message
numbers that bounced. If that warning bounces, ezmlm sends a probe; if
the probe bounces, ezmlm automatically removes the subscriber from the
mailing list.
ezmlm is easy for users to control. Joe can edit ~/SOS/text/* to change
any of the administrative messages sent to subscribers. He can remove
~/SOS/public and ~/SOS/archived to disable automatic subscription and
archiving. He can put his own address into ~/SOS/editor to set up a
moderated mailing list. He can edit ~/SOS/{headeradd,headerremove} to
control outgoing headers. ezmlm has several utilities to manually
inspect and manage mailing lists.
ezmlm uses Delivered-To to stop forwarding loops, Mailing-List to
protect other mailing lists against false subscription requests, and
real cryptographic cookies to protect normal users against false
subscription requests. ezmlm can also be used for a sublist,
redistributing messages from another list.
ezmlm is reliable, even in the face of system crashes. It writes each
new subscription and each new message safely to disk before it reports
success to qmail.
ezmlm doesn't mind huge mailing lists. Lists don't even have to fit into
memory. ezmlm hashes the subscription list into a set of independent
files so that it can handle subscription requests quickly. ezmlm uses
qmail for blazingly fast parallel SMTP deliveries.
patches, multi-language, MIME, global interface, std database support.

File Name: gimp-1.1.4-1a.ppc.rpm (4588 k)
Date: Jun 13, 1999
The GIMP is an image manipulation program suitable for photo retouching,
image composition and image authoring. Many people find it extremely useful
in creating logos and other graphics for web pages. The GIMP has many of the
tools and filters you would expect to find in similar commercial offerings,
and some interesting extras as well.
The GIMP provides a large image manipulation toolbox, including channel
operations and layers, effects, sub-pixel imaging and anti-aliasing,
and conversions, all with multi-level undo.
This is the development version, and may not be completely stable, but
it has enough features which are not present in the previous stable
version 1.0 that you may wish to install it anyway.
This version of The GIMP includes a scripting facility, but many of the
included scripts rely on fonts that we cannot distribute. The GIMP ftp
site has a package of fonts that you can install by yourself, which
includes all the fonts needed to run the included scripts. Some of the
fonts have unusual licensing requirements; all the licenses are documented
if you are so inclined. Alternatively, choose fonts which exist on your
system before running the scripts.

be relocated with rpm -i --prefix=?
This is te last KOffice snapshot prior to the move to Qt-2.0. I will also
be workin on the new KOffice (which is proving more challenging) after I
have more time.
I found an odd bug related to mico - which you will probably encounter if
you try to recompile this RPM - a workaround I found was to move a
copy of the following into /tmp/mico/[bin|include]. Then I could use
--with-micodir to keep my system from gagging. I need to investigate this
more thoroughly...
/usr/bin/eventd, /usr/bin/idl, /usr/bin/imr, /usr/bin/ird,
/usr/bin/mico-*, /usr/bin/micod, /usr/bin/nsadmin, /usr/bin/nsd

I found an odd bug related to mico - which you will probably encounter if
you try to recompile this RPM - a workaround I found was to move a
copy of the following into /tmp/mico/[bin|include]. Then I could use
--with-micodir to keep my system from gagging. I need to investigate this
more thoroughly...

Subject: Mac06 0.99
Dear Mac users,
a new beta preview release of Mac06, the POSIX system for MacOS, is available:
Release 0.99 for 680x0 Macs (and PPC of course through the emulator).
Mac06 features simple installation and runs in parallel with MacOS (7.x and
later) - either 68k or PPC. The file system maps the MacOS HFS files to a
POSIX namespace, provides device files for terminal windows, serial I/O and a
/proc directory. Mac06 has multitasking capability - even in parallel with
the Finder. The command shell (sh) supports I/O redirection, pipes,
and shell variable substitution. Many useful commands like ls, cat, more,
fgrep, find, test, expr, mkdir, rmdir, mv, cp, uuencode/decode, cal are provided.
C-Libraries to compile application programs with Symantec C or Code Warrior are provided.
Major new features of release mac06-0.99:
* assembler, linker and executor for 680x0 code
* assembler for Power PC including AltiVec (but no execution yet)
* c89 preprocessor running (c89 -E)
* initd to initialize and control system activities
* additional commands
The new C compiler already allows preprocessing but the parser and code generator
are disabled (as they have still too many bugs that will have to be fixed for
release 1.0).
The kernel and command line shell are part of the Mac06-Basic package provided
by info-mac.
The Mac06-Advanced package which includes the compiler, assembler and linker can be
downloaded directly from
http://www.dsitri.de/projects/mac06
Please do intensive testing and give me as much feedback as possible.
Thank you very much,
Nikolaus Schaller

Subject: MacOS Permissions Lister 1.01
Permissions Lister 1.01 - a simple script that will save a list of the File
Sharing permissions of folders on a remote volume. This is handy for
re-creating AppleShare IP permissions on a UNIX based server (MacOS X,
Linux, etc.) Aliases that are found are listed in a seperate file, so you
may change them to symlinks if you wish.
This generates a text file (Mac formatted) that you can use to examine the
permissions on a Mac volume. As the finder on an AppleShare IP server does
not control file sharing, this can only be used by running it on a client
computer that has a network volume mounted.
the resulting file will be in the format:

available with most popular distributions of the Linux OS. This high-scoring
puzzle game is fun, challenging, habit-forming, and playable by both adults and
children. Click on groups of animated rotating balls to remove them from the
board. The more you remove at one time, the higher your score. Eliminate all
balls on the screen for a bonus. Feel creative? Create your own animation
scenarios using any Mac paint program.
Fat binary compatible with both PPC and 68K.
This is freeware.

Mod_perl incorporates a Perl interpreter into the Apache web
server, so that the Apache web server can directly execute Perl
code. Mod_perl links the Perl runtime library into the Apache
web server and provides an object-oriented Perl interface for
Apache's C language API. The end result is a quicker CGI script
turnaround process, since no external Perl interpreter has to
be started.
Install mod_perl if you're installing the Apache web server and
you'd like for it to directly incorporate a Perl interpreter.

PHP is an HTML-embedded scripting language. PHP attempts to make it
easy for developers to write dynamically generated web pages. PHP
also offers built-in database integration for several commercial
and non-commercial database management systems, so writing a
database-enabled web page with PHP is fairly simple. The most
common use of PHP coding is probably as a replacement for CGI
scripts. The mod_php module enables the Apache web server to
understand and process the embedded PHP language in web pages.
This package contains PHP3, or PHP version 3.05. If you use
applications which specifically rely on PHP/FI, you should instead
install the PHP/FI module contained in the mod_php package.
If you're just starting with PHP, you should install this package.
You'll also need to install the Apache web server.

Mt. Everything is a control panel allowing you to manage your SCSI
devices and mount Macintosh volumes from any SCSI disk. Additionally
it lets you gather information about all partitions located on a given
SCSI drive and lets you inspect the content of a drive without
having to mount a volume from it.
Mt. Everything 1.5 adds full support for mutliple SCSI buses, including
SCSI buses added by third party expansion cards to your computer. It supports
Wide SCSI buses.
Mt. Everything includes a built-in generic SCSI disk driver supporting
virtuall any SCSI hard-drive.
Mt. Everything 1.5.0a3 still is an alpha version. It represents work in
progress
and is neither feature complete nor carefully tested.
Whats new in 1.5.0a3?
* Experimental support for mounting volumes which are set-up not to
"Auto-Mount" in their
setup-program. This new feature currently works only for drives which have
been prepared
with Apple's "Drive Setup" program.
* Experimental support for SCSI-2 compliant optical storage devices like MO
drives added.
Mt. Everything will treat them the same as a normal hard disk and should be
able
to mount volumes from such drives if the drive (or better its medium) has
been prepared
to be used by Mac OS computers.
* Mt. Everything now should mount PowerBooks 1400 running in disk mode
like it does with other PowerBook models.
* The "Info" dialog now displays the allocation blocksize of HFS and HFS+
volumes. The
allocation blocksize is the smallest amount of disk space any file will occupy.
* Little endian Linux ext2 file systems are recognized correctly and "Info"
shows the same
information than for big endian ext2 file systems. Additionally the
"endianess" of the choosen
file system is shown.
* A number of bug fixes (see the enclosed Readme document)

MySQL is a true multi-user, multi-threaded SQL (Structured Query
Language) database server. SQL is the most popular database language
in the world. MySQL is a client/server implementation that consists of
a server daemon mysqld and many different client programs/libraries.
The main goals of MySQL are speed, robustness and easy to use. MySQL
was originally developed because we at Tcx needed a SQL server that
could handle very big databases with magnitude higher speed than what
any database vendor could offer to us. We have now been using MySQL
since 1996 in a environment with more than 40 databases, 10,000
tables, of which more than 500 have more than 7 million rows. This is
about 50G of mission critical data.
The base upon which MySQL is built is a set of routines that have been
used in a highly demanding production environment for many
years. While MySQL is still in development, it already offers a rich
and highly useful function set.

When rpmfind is asked for a resource it first asks the local RPM base,
and if it's not available, will request the associated RDF file on
a remote database. The result describes the various packages
providing these resources (distribution, vendor, version, date, etc...).
Based on that information, rpmfind sorts the various packages for
suitability.
Then it picks the first one and fetchs more complete information like
the dependancies required by this package. It then verifies that all
the dependencies needed by this package are available, and recusively
trys to locate RPM providing uninstalled resources.
At the end rpmfind shows the list of packages to fetch and the total
size needed on disk.
The database can be built using rpm2html.

Squid is a high-performance proxy caching server for web clients, supporting
FTP, gopher, and HTTP data objects. Unlike traditional caching software,
Squid handles all requests in a single, non-blocking, I/O-driven process.
Squid keeps meta data and especially hot objects cached in RAM, caches DNS
lookups, supports non-blocking DNS lookups, and implements negative caching
of failed requests.
Squid supports SSL, extensive access controls, and full request logging. By
using the lightweight Internet Cache Protocol, Squid caches can be arranged
in a hierarchy or mesh for additional bandwidth savings.
Squid consists of a main server program squid, a Domain Name System lookup
program dnsserver, a program for retrieving FTP data ftpget, and some
management and client tools. When squid starts up, it spawns a configurable
number of dnsserver processes, each of which can perform a single, blocking
Domain Name System (DNS) lookup. This reduces the amount of time the cache
waits for DNS lookups.
Squid is derived from the ARPA-funded Harvest project.
