Why Do We Fail?

If heaven's streets are made of solid gold,
Then why has not the whole world been told?
If we shall see the Sovereign face to face,
No cost's too great to spread on earth his grace!
If choices here decide eternal fate,
Should not the saints, to a man, put all their weight
Behind the Word, to speak of Jesus' death,
Of his success to save with dying breath?
If then so clearly is our last state at stake,
Why do we fail to warn of the fiery lake?
