Who Touched Me?
by J. Randal Matheny

"And Jesus said, 'Who was it that touched me?'
When all denied it, Peter said, 'Master, the
crowds surround you and are pressing in on you!'
(Luke 8:45, NIV).

Dozens, perhaps hundreds, of people touched Jesus
as he made his way through the crowds. But in the
midst of the multitude, there was a special touch.
A needy touch. A purposeful touch.

To this touch Jesus permitted power to go out from
him to cure. But he did not allow the person
benefited to remain hidden. He wanted her to know
that she had been cured with his full blessing.

Jesus' question did not convey irritation or
anger, but gladness. He is not bothered by our
touch. He yearns for it.

No one comes to Jesus unawares. No one can sneak
up on him. No one need to.

What Jesus wants most is for us to search him out
in the moment of need. To touch him. To reach him.

Whether or not our circumstance is changed, Jesus
does not allow us to go away without changing our
heart. Without filling us with peace. Without
forgiveness and hope.

When Jesus looks around in the crowd and asks,
"Who touched me?", he wants to find you.
