2nd Chapter of Acts

Any of you who were of age in the 70’s and 80’s and were aware of contemporary Christian music would almost HAVE to remember a group called the 2nd Chapter of Acts and a grizzly bear of a singer named Barry McGuire. The 2nd Chapter of Acts was a phenomenally gifted and anointed singing group. And Barry was a one of a kind singer and minister of music. As a matter of fact, they were in large part responsible for helping to create the entire genre of contemporary Christian music.

Unfortunately, most of their early recordings were primarily produced and distributed in vinyl. Consequently, such early titles as “To the Bride,” “In the Volume of the Book,” and “With Footnotes” are no longer available.

I personally find this a crying shame since the ministry of the music of that era is still finding an audience today among baby boomers AND even among a NEW generation that is just discovering this music.

Sadly, the owners of these recordings, Word Entertainment, has no interest in re-releasing them.

However, if YOU are interested in being ministered to by these recordings again, I’m asking you to consider sending a courteously worded email to Word Entertainment asking them to make these recordings available again in CD format.

The names and addresses I have to contact are:

Ricky Widmer – Manager of customer service

Phyllis Addison – Licensing Department

To facilitate your help in this matter, I have also created a web page which will allow you to send a QUICK and EASY email to Word Entertainment. Just point your browser to:

Finally, if you do take the time to send an email to Word about re-releasing these great recordings, please also take a moment to forward this email to any and all of your friends whom you think might be interested in hearing this wonderful music again.

If Word gets enough encouragement in this way, and if you would take a moment to help this effort snowball … we might just have a chance to hear the ministry of this incredible music again.

Thanks and God bless,

— Dave Ball
