We Love God!

God: "I looked for someone to take a stand for me, and stand in the gap" (Ezekiel 22:30)

Kent and Barbara Hughes suggest the following to built family affection: 1. “The best possible foundation for building affection: love for God…We are able to love God and others through the reception of God’s love. Loving God is what makes other loves endure. This discipline, the day-to-day empowerment to live out this love for people who aren’t always “lovable,” is what fosters the ongoing growth of affection.” 2. “It is essential, then, if a family is to develop the bonds of affection, that the children have the assurance of their parents’ love for one another.” 3. “An obvious place to enhance family affection is at the dinner table. That is the single best daily opportunity families have for all gathering together…We encourage you never to surrender that choice time, for it is an unsurpassed opportunity to build family life.” 4. “Family vacations were at the heart of building the Hughes clan’s affections…we made disciplined investment in family vacations…Sometimes brief, spontaneous mini-vacations can (also) have important results in developing family unity and affection.” 5. “Mutual interests builds affection…Wise parents know this and look for a common interest or adopt their children’s interests as their own.” 6. “Families that learn to appreciate their points of uniqueness and to chuckle at their idiosyncrasies pull together in affection rather than apart in irritation.” 7. “The home is the place to be sentimental, corny, even weird for the sake of affection.” 8. “Wise parents who wish to enhance familial bonds will do their best to keep up the communication with grandparents and spent time with them if possible. Few things can be more elevating to family than loving affection extended across generations.” (Kent and Barbara Hughes).

Job’s story demolishes the notion that we can avoid Satan’s attacks if we’re sufficiently strong, or skilled enough, or trained in how to wage war against Satan. No one was more spiritually fit than Job. Yet God allowed Satan to ravage him anyway – and there was nothing Job could do about it. Job finally prevailed in the face of Satan’s merciless assault, not because he found some secret way to beat the devil, not because he rebuked him or ordered him to desist, but because God was in control all along. He knew how much Job could bear. And He would not permit Satan to cross that boundary (1 Cor. 10:13). When Satan reached that limit God stopped him and his attacks ended.

CATEGORY CUISINE TAG YIELD
Eggs 1 Servings

INGREDIENTS

2 tb Mori-Nu light (1% fat) tofu
3 lg Ripe bananas
Egg replacer for 1 egg
3 tb Sunflower oil
3/16 c Maple syrup
3/16 c Molasses
1/2 ts Vanilla extract (optional)
1 c Whole wheat pastry flour
1 c Oat flour
1 tb Defatted soy flour
2 ts Baking powder (preferrably aluminum-free)
1/2 ts Baking soda
1 pn Salt
2 ts Cinnamon
1 tb Ground ginger
1/4 ts Ground cloves
1/4 ts Ground mace
2 c Apples; peeled and cut in 1/2-inch dice
1 ts Lemon juice
1/2 c Dried cranberries (preferrably unsulfured) (up to 1)

INSTRUCTIONS

Preheat your oven to 375. In a blender or food processor, proces the tofu,
egg replacer, oil, sweeteners, extract and bananas. In a large bowl,
combine the flours, spices (reserving 1 teaspoon of cinnamon), salt, baking
soda and baking powder. Make a well in the centre and fold in the wet
ingredients, working until moistened. Toss the apple pieces in the lemon
juice and remaining teaspoon of cinnamon, and then fold into the batter
(use a rubber spatula to scrape the sides, so that you don't lose any of
the spices). Spoon batter into the cups of a 12-muffin pan (non-stick, or
lined with muffin papers). Bake for 25 - 30 minutes, or until golden and a
toothpick/cake tester inserted in the centre comes out clean. Cool briefly
beore turning out onto a plate.
A note about 'wholefood' baking: Fill the muffin cups very full, using all
of the batter, and bake these muffins right away in a preheated oven.
Wholefood batters rise best by this method (but they still don't rise as
much as standard muffin mixes). Keep the muffins in the fridge when they're
done; they freeze well for short periods of time.
Substitutions: In place of cranberries - dried currants, rasins,
blueberries, cherries, etc. In place of the vanilla extract - your fave
extract, or this ingredient can be omitted
