God: "I looked for someone to take a stand for me, and stand in the gap" (Ezekiel 22:30)

The question is whether man’s salvation is held up as the great goal of the covenant of redemption, or whether God’s glorification is the primary goal of the covenant of redemption. If the benefit of man were allowed to become the ultimate purpose of the church, it would actually be a failure. Man was created to have a higher purpose than himself. If the blessing of man becomes the ultimate motivation, then he is living far below and for far less than that for which God created him.

The awareness of sin, a deep awareness of disobedience, and painful confession of sin used to be our shadow. Christians hated sin. They feared it, they fled from it, they grieved over it. Some of our [forefathers] agonized over their sins. A man who lost his temper might wonder if he could still go to holy communion. A woman who for years envied her more attractive and intelligent sister might wonder if this sin threatened her very salvation... That shadow has dimmed. Nowadays the accusation, 'You have sinned,' is often said with a grin and with a tone that signals an inside joke. At one time this accusation still had the power to jolt people.

CATEGORY CUISINE TAG YIELD
Grains Digest, Mar95, Fatfree 2 Servings

INGREDIENTS

1 sm Clove garlic
1 ts Tarragon vinegar
1/4 c Hellman's low fat mayo
(1g_fat/Tbs)
1 lb New potatoes (or other
Potatoes)
1 lb Fresh green beans
1 Salt and pepper to taste

INSTRUCTIONS

Mince garlic very finely and blend into mayo along with vinegar. Set aside
to let flavors to blend. Scrub potatoes well and cut into 1-1 1/2" pieces.
Place in steamer basket and steam until just tender (10-15 min). While the
potatoes steam, trim ends off green beans and snap them in half. Rinse
potatoes under cold water and place in strainer to cool while you steam the
green beans just until crisp-tender (3-5 min). Rinse beans under cold
water until cool and place in strainer to drain. Toss potatoes and beans
with mayo mixture to coat and season with salt and pepper. You can chill
this or just eat it at room temperature. I imagine some red, yellow or
green bell pepper would also be good with this or maybe a little onion or
celery.

A Message from our Provider:

“When Holy God draws near in true revival, people come under terrible conviction of sin. The outstanding feature of spiritual awakening has been the profound consciousness of the Presence and holiness of God. #Henry Blackaby”
