We Love God!

God: "I looked for someone to take a stand for me, and stand in the gap" (Ezekiel 22:30)

Through no fault or choice of my own, I am unable to express my sexuality in the beauty and intimacy of Christian marriage, as God intended when He created me a sexual being in His own image. To seek to do this outside of marriage is, by the clear teaching of Scripture, to sin against God and against my own nature. As a committed Christian, then, I have no alternative but to live a life of voluntary celibacy. I must be chaste not only in body, but in mind and spirit as well. Since I am now in my 60’s I think that my experience of what this means is valid. I want to go on record as having proved that for those who are committed to do God’s will, His commands are his enablings... My whole being cries out continually for something I may not have. My whole life must be lived in the context of this never-ceasing tension. My professional life, my social life, my personal life, my Christian life - all are subject to its constant and powerful pull. As a Christian I have no choice but to obey God, cost what it may. I must trust Him to make it possible for me to honor Him in my singleness. That this is possible, a mighty cloud of witnesses will join me to attest. Multitudes of single Christians in every age and circumstance have proved God’s sufficiency in this matter. He has promised to meet our needs and He honors His word. If we seek fulfillment in Him, we shall find it. It may not be easy, but whoever said that Christian life was easy? The badge of Christ’s discipleship was a cross. Why must I live my life alone? I do not know. But Jesus Christ is Lord of my life. I believe in the sovereignty of God, and I accept my singleness from his hand. He could have ordered my life otherwise, but He has not chosen to do so. As his child, I must trust His love and wisdom.

As Christians growing into maturity in Christ, we don't deny our feelings, but rather we pray for our feelings to be aligned with the gospel, aligned with the Word of God, aligned in ways that will only bring glory to Christ, aligned with biblical truth. We want our feelings not to drive the equation of decision-making and understanding. We want feelings to follow. We don't want to be unfeeling. That would be to be unhuman. That would be a denial of how we are made in God's image. That would be not only to be insensitive, but incapable of empathy. That can't be right. But at the same time, we have to recognize it can't be right for feelings to drive everything.

CATEGORY CUISINE TAG YIELD
Eggs, Dairy Breads 6 Servings

INGREDIENTS

1 c Self-rising flour
1 pn Salt
3 tb Butter or margarine
2/3 c Currants
3/4 ts Groung nutmeg
1 Egg
1/3 c Milk

INSTRUCTIONS

Keywords: Scones, sugar free, bread
Preparation time 15 minutes, cooking time about 4 minutes per scone.
Mix the flour and salt together, and rub in the butter until the mixture
resembles fine breadcrumbs.
Stir in the currants and nutmeg, then push the mixture gently to the sides
of the bowl to form a well in the center.
Beat together the egg and milk, and pour into the well in the center of the
flour.
Using a wooden spoon, mix the egg and milk mixture into the flour, stirring
from the center of the bowl and drawing the flour in from the sides to form
a smooth, thick batter. If batter is too thick, add a little extra milk
until it becomes a soft dropping consistency.
Heat a heavy-based frying pan on top of a moderate heat, and grease with a
little butter or oil.
Drop tablespoons of the batter into the hot pan, and cook for 2-3 minutes,
or until the bases are set and have turned golden brown.
Turn the scones over and cook on the other side in the same way.
Serve from the pan with sugar-free preserves.
NOTE: These scones freeze well, and can be re-heated by wrapping in a
clean dish towel and standing in a warm oven until they are heated through.
