We Love God!

God: "I looked for someone to take a stand for me, and stand in the gap" (Ezekiel 22:30)

In 1956 Life magazine told of the shocking death of five missionaries in the jungles of Ecuador. For several months these men had tried to make contact with the primitive Auca Indians. On their first attempt to establish a camp, they were brutally murdered! Today these same Auca tribesmen are all Christians. They are leaders of a small congregation that worships near the spot where the missionaries died. Many educators and government leaders have expressed astonishment at the miraculous change in these Indians. How did it happen? The answer lies in the love of God expressed to these people by the sister of Nate Saint and the wife of Jim Elliot, two of the martyred missionaries. Led by God who is love and not vengeance, these women were able to break down the walls of distrust. In time they were able to share the gospel with these tribesmen and see the love of Christ transform their lives.

Somewhere between 400% and 800% of suicide rates increase in women who have had abortions. Hypochondria, depression, withdrawal, guilt, shame, drugs, alcohol dependency, serious emotional trauma – all of these come from abortions. Six to seven times more women die each year from legal than illegal abortions. The risk of pregnancy outside the womb which threatens the mother's life is doubled for women who have had one abortion, and quadrupled where there have been two or more. Miscarriages are almost twice as common for women who have aborted. A study of 26,000 births indicated a more than threefold increase in the number of stillborn babies and deaths of newborns among mothers who have had an abortion. Since about two or three women per hundred needs a blood transfusion, there is an increased risk of exposure to hepatitis and AIDS. Bleeding is more common in subsequent wanted pregnancies. Many researchers have observed subsequent premature births and low birth weights. Among women who have had abortions there is an increased risk of damage to the cervix. There is up to a 30% greater risk of pelvic infection.

CATEGORY CUISINE TAG YIELD
Vegetables, Grains 6 Servings

INGREDIENTS

1 lg Onion; thinly sliced
1 lg Green bell pepper; thinly sliced
2 tb Vegetable oil
2 Garlic cloves; crushed through a press
3/4 ts Caraway seed
1/2 c Beer
1/4 ts Salt
1/8 ts Freshly ground pepper
6 Bratwurst or knockwurst
6 Hot dog buns
Grainy mustard

INSTRUCTIONS

Prepare a hot fire in a covered charcoal or gas grill (see note). While
coals heat, in a large frying pan, cook the onion and pepper in the oil
over medium heat until the vegetables are softened, about 3 minutes. Add
the garlic and caraway seed and cook until the onions are golden, about 2
minutes. Add the beer and cook until the liquid is reduced in volume by
about half, about 3 minutes. Season with the salt and pepper. Remove from
the heat and cover to keep warm. Split the bratwurst lengthwise, but do not
cut all the way through. Grill until nicely browned on both sides, about 8
minutes. During the last 2 minutes of cooking, set the buns, cut sides
down, at the edge of the grill to toast lightly. To serve, spread the cut
sides of the buns with mustard, add a bratwurst, then spoon on the pepper
and onion mixture.
To check grill temperature, count the seconds you can hold your hand, palm
side down, 2 to 3 inches above the rack, until it feels uncomfortable: 2
seconds for hot.
