What do we mean by the word “Incarnation?” The idea is found in several texts which speak of Jesus as “coming in the flesh” (1 Jn. 4:2; 2 Jn. 7), being “sent in the flesh” (Rom. 8:3), “appearing in the flesh” (1 Tim. 3:16); He also “suffered in the flesh” (1 Pet. 4:1), “died in the flesh” (1 Pet. 3:18), made peace by abolishing “in the flesh the enmity” (Eph. 2:15), and “made reconciliation in the body of His flesh” (Col. 1:21-22). In sum, “the Word became flesh” (John 1:14). Thus, by the Incarnation we mean that the eternal Word or second person of the Trinity became a man or assumed human flesh at a point in time, yet without ceasing to be God.

When a Calvinist says that all things happen according to the predestination of God, he speaks the truth, and I am willing to be called a Calvinist. But when an Arminian says that when a man sins, the sin is his own, and that if he continues in sin, and perishes, his eternal damnation will lie entirely at his own door, I believe that he speaks the truth, though I am not willing to be called an Arminian. The fact is, there is some truth in both these systems of theology.

    • Grilled Lemon/herb Mahi Mahi

    INGREDIENTS

    3 tb Olive oil
    2 Cloves garlic; minced
    3 tb Lemon juice
    1 ts Worcestershire sauce
    1 ts Soy sauce
    4 tb Herbs; freshly chopped
    Basil with lemon herbs
    Salt and pepper to taste
    2 Mahi mahi steaks; 3/4 to 1-inch thick

    INSTRUCTIONS

    Combine all the marinade ingredients together and pour over the mahi mahi
steaks. Marinate for at least two hours. Grill the steaks, brushing
frequently with marinade. To grill the mahi mahi, preheat the grill over
low flame, and grill until the fish browns. Tirn and grill until the fish
flakes and is opaque. Time will vary depending on thickness.
Spoon a good cup of cooked wild or white rice onto each plate. Put one of
the steaks on top of this on each plate. Sprinkle with chopped herbs of
choice. Place 3 steamed carrots, cut into matchsticks beside the rice, and
garnish with bits of orange.
