We Love God!

God: "I looked for someone to take a stand for me, and stand in the gap" (Ezekiel 22:30)

We Christians often act like heathen. We preach that it is wonderful to be a Christian, that Heaven is to be gained and Hell shunned. Then when one of our loved ones dies, we act as if it were all a lie. Our actions say that this world is better than the next, that death is a tragedy, and we ask querulously in our unbelief, Why? Why? Why?… Shame on us! When we weep and lament at the death of our loved ones [beyond God’s-honoring grief], we often make void our testimony, cast reflection upon the Bible and irreverence on Heaven. For the Christian, death is not a tragedy but a glorious promotion – not the sad end, but the glorious beginning.

Don’t just teach your children external self-control; train them to understand temptation and resist it. Don’t just teach them manners; teach them why pride is sinful and why greed, lust, selfishness, and covetousness dishonor God. Punish them for external offenses, but teach them that the root issue is always a deeper problem – corruption in their hearts. When you correct them, don’t do it merely to satisfy you as the offended, irritated, frustrated parent. That’s anger; it’s vengeance. But when you correct them help them to see that it is first of all God who has been offended and that He offers reconciliation through Jesus Christ (2 Corinthians 5:20).

CATEGORY CUISINE TAG YIELD
Dairy California Entrees, Usenet 6 Servings

INGREDIENTS

10 oz Spinach, chopped (frozen or fresh)
3 sl Bacon
1 sm Onion
1 ts Salt
1/2 ts Pepper
3 tb Flour
1 1/4 c Milk (we substitute a like quantity of 50/50 Kosher Parve creamer and water)

INSTRUCTIONS

Rinse and chop the spinach. Place the chopped spinach in a heavy skillet,
cover, and steam until wilted, stirring occasionally. There is no need to
add water other than what clings to the leaves from washing. (If you are
using frozen spinach, place over low or medium heat to thaw and allow
excess water to evaporate) Transfer to small bowl and squeeze completely
dry.
Grind bacon and onion very fine and place in saucepan. Saute bacon and
onion until bacon is cooked. Stir in flour to make smooth paste. Gradually
add milk. Bring to boil and simmer 10 minutes over low heat until
thickened.
Add salt and pepper. Grind spinach fine and add to cream sauce.
  NOTES:
* Creamed spinach with bacon -- This is a creamed spinach recipe that we
found in the _Los Angeles Times_. It produces a creamed spinach that even
my wife likes.
* You may find that you want to add extra milk and give the finished soup
a final heating in the microwave. We did, and it didn't hurt it one bit.
