God: "I looked for someone to take a stand for me, and stand in the gap" (Ezekiel 22:30)

When a True Christian sins, what happens? 1. His Fellowship with God is severed. David, when backslidden, mourned, “Day and night thy hand was heavy upon me: my moisture is turned into the drought of summer” (Psalm 32:4). As clouds hide the sun for days, so sin comes between the soul and God. 2. The Joy of salvation is lost. One loses all relish for spiritual things: the heart is empty. David, in this condition, confessed, “My sin is ever before me” and “Restore unto me the joy of thy salvation; and uphold me with thy free Spirit” (Psalm 51:3, 12). 3. Power for service is lost. The Holy Spirit’s power is essential for any real witness for Christ. It cannot be faked. David prayed, “Thou desirest truth in the inward parts” and “Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me” (Psalm 51:6, 10). 4. The Christian invites divine chastisement. Hebrews 12:6-7 – “Whom the Lord loveth he chasteneth, and scourgeth every son whom he receiveth…What son is he whom the father chasteneth not?” Psalm 89:32-33 – “I will visit their transgression with the rod, and their iniquity with stripes. Nevertheless, my lovingkindness will I not utterly take from him, nor suffer my faithfulness to fail.” 5. There is loss of reward. (Read 1 Corinthians 3:11-15.) Out of Fellowship means out of Service – out of service means that one is failing to lay up treasures in heaven. He is building of “wood, hay, and stubble” which cannot endure the test of the rewarding day (1 Corinthians 3:12-15). Many will be chagrined in that day by suffering Loss of Reward. Take the Way Back Now. Psalm 32:5; 1 John 1:9 (Keith Brooks).

When their feelings have been hurt, people often feel justified in doing anything they want in retaliation. They can leave the church, divide the body, explode with uncontrolled anger, cut people off, lie, hate, and backbite. They try to justify the most wicked, sinful behavior with the simple excuse, “But I’ve been hurt!” Scripture, however, prohibits the spirit of retaliation, the get-even mentality that plagues human nature, with the clear command: “Repay no one evil for evil” (Rom. 12:17; 1 Thes. 5:15; 1 Pet. 3:9). When insulted, we are not to return the insult; when attacked, we are not to retaliate; when criticized, we are not to slander; when hurt, we are not to strike back. The Scripture further forbids seeking personal, private revenge or taking justice into our own hands; “Never avenge yourselves, but leave it to the wrath of God, for it is written, ‘Vengeance is mine, I will repay, says the Lord’” (Rom. 12:19). It is God’s prerogative to punish evil, and He will see to it…. Rather than seeking retribution, Christians are to “overcome evil with good” (Rom. 12:21).

CATEGORY CUISINE TAG YIELD
Meats, Grains Meats 4 Servings

INGREDIENTS

3 lb Beef short ribs *
*cut in 1-in lengths
4 Garlic cloves peeled and minced
2 1-in cubes ginger peeled and minced
3 md Scallions; trimmed & minced
2/3 c Soy sauce
2 tb Sesame oil
1 1/2 ts Spicy sesame oil
1 tb Sugar
2 tb Cider vinegar
1 tb Mirin (sweet rice wine)
1/4 tb Freshly ground black pepper
2 tb Toasted sesame seeds

INSTRUCTIONS

TOAST THE SESAME SEEDS by spreading them over the bottom of a pie tin.
Roast them at 300F for 12-to-16 minutes. Stir sesame seeds often, until
they are golden. With a very sharp knife, score the meat on each short rib
in a crisscross pattern, making the cuts about 3/8-inch apart and cutting
almost to the bone. This will allow the marinade to penetrate and help
tenderize the meat. Place the short ribs in a large shallow baking pan.
Combine the rest of the ingredients, pour the marinade over the meat and
toss well to mix. Cover and refrigerate the ribs for 24 hours, turning them
in the marinade several times. When you are ready to cook the short ribs,
preheat the oven to 325F. Arrange the ribs on a rack in a shallow roasting
pan. Brush ribs with a little of the marinade. Roast them uncovered for 20
minutes. Remove the pan from the oven, turn the ribs and brush them with
the marinade. Raise the oven temperature to 500F. After the ribs have stood
for 10 minutes at room temperature, return them to the oven and roast them
for 5 minutes. Turn them again, baste them lavishly with the marinade and
roast them for 3 to 5 minutes longer for rare, about 8 minutes for
medium-rare. Brush the ribs with any remaining marinade and serve them with
fluffy boiled rice and a crisp salad. Makes 4 to 6 Servings
