God: "I looked for someone to take a stand for me, and stand in the gap" (Ezekiel 22:30)

Your own disobedience in the past will not ultimately keep your child from becoming a believer. It is pointless to berate yourself for any wrong behavior on your part as if it were the reason your child is without Christ. This does not mean that we as parents should not repent and do better, and even admit wrong to our children. But the reason your child is without Christ is related to his or her own sin. Every parent is sinful and inconsistent. This has never been a barrier to God if He desires to save your child. Illustrations abound of children who come from far less godly families who are nonetheless converted to Christ. In fact, this may have been the case in your own experience.

Those who have sidestepped (even inadvertently) the authority of a fully sufficient Bible have strayed in two opposite directions. The Roman Catholics, Eastern Orthodox, and authoritarian cults have wrongly given autonomy and final authority to the Church… At the other end of the spectrum are those who, in reaction to an authoritarian church, have skirted a fully sufficient Bible by giving autonomy and final authority to the individual’s conscience and reason. They assert that every believer has the unfettered right to interpret the Scriptures not only for himself but by himself. Interpretation, according to this view, is strictly an individual matter.

INSTRUCTIONS

CAKE
ICING
*As garnish, if desired. -- Put the raisins and grated lemon rind into a
bowl with the whiskey, and leave overnight to soak. Grease a 7-inch cake
pan, and line the bottom with parchment; preheat oven to 350F. Cream the
butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Separate the eggs and sift the
flour, salt, cloves and baking powder into a bowl. Beat the yolks into the
butter and sugar one by one, including a spoonful of flour and beating well
after each addition. Gradually add the whiskey and raisin mixture,
alternating with the remaining flour. Do not overbeat at this stage.
Finally, whisk the egg whites until stiff and fold them into the mixture
with a metal spoon. Turn into the prepared pan and bake in the preheated
oven for about 1 1/2 hours, or until well risen and springy to the touch ~-
or test with a skewer: when it comes out clean, the cake's ready. Turn out
and cool on a wire rack. .
Meanwhile, make the icing by mixing the lemon juice with the sieved
confectioners' sugar and just enough water to make a pouring consistency.
Put a dinner plate under the cake rack to catch the drips, and pour the
icing over the cake a tablespoonful at a time, letting it dribble naturally
down the sides. Don't worry if a lot of it ends up on the plate underneath
~- just scoop it up and put it on top again. When the icing has set, it
can be decorated with crystallized lemon slices if you like.

A Message from our Provider:

“When Holy God draws near in true revival, people come under terrible conviction of sin. The outstanding feature of spiritual awakening has been the profound consciousness of the Presence and holiness of God. #Henry Blackaby”
