[The resurrection of the body] is the Christian’s brightest hope. Many believers make a mistake when they long to die and long for Heaven. Those things may be desirable, but they are not the ultimate for the saints. The saints in Heaven are perfectly free from sin and, so far as they are capable of it, are perfectly happy. But a disembodied spirit never can be perfect until it is reunited to its body. God made man not pure spirit but body and spirit, and the spirit alone will never be content until it sees its physical frame raised to its own condition of holiness and glory. Think not that our longings here below are not shared in by the saints in Heaven. They do not groan so far as any pain can be, but they long with greater intensity than you and I for the 'adoption...the redemption of our bodies.' People have said there is no faith in Heaven, and no hope. They know not what they say - in Heaven faith and hope have their fullest swing and their brightest sphere, for glorified saints believe in God’s promise and hope for the resurrection of the body.

[Jesus is] not saying, “Take absolutely no oaths at all,” because Jesus Himself took and made oaths. You remember what Jesus said to His disciples in the upper room in John 13? “I tell you I will never again eat of this meal until we eat it in the Kingdom.” He was making an oath. He was saying, “I’m never going to sit down with you and eat this supper until we are eating the marriage feast of the Lamb together.” It was a pledge to His people – that He was going to be faithful until He brought them to glory. Paul made oaths. So Jesus’ point is not, “Don’t ever make oaths.” His point is, “Don’t ever use God’s name in an oath with subterfuge.” You always tell the truth. And even if you don’t invoke God’s name, whenever you are being called upon to tell you are witnessing as to whether you are from God or from the evil one.

    INGREDIENTS

    1/2 lb Elbow macaroni
    1/2 lb Sharp cheddar cheese
    2 c Milk
    2 tb Cornstarch
    2 ts Worcestershire sauce
    Salt and cayenne pepper
    1 c Smoked ham, finely diced

    INSTRUCTIONS

    Bring a large pot of water to boil. Cook pasta 7 to 8 minutes or until
tender but still firm to the bite. Meanwhile, whisk milk and cornstarch
together in a non-reactive saucepan. Slowly bring this mixture to a simmer,
whisking constantly over medium heat. Stir in 3/4 of the cheese into sauce
and reduce heat to low. Stir constantly until cheese melts, about 1 minute.
Add remaining cheese, remove pan from heat and let cheese melt by the heat
of the sauce. Season with Worcester sauce, salt, and cayenne pepper. Drain
and dry pasta and transfer to a serving dish. Toss hot pasta with most of
the ham, spoon sauce over hot pasta and serve immediately. Garnish with
remaining ham.
