We Love God!

God: "I looked for someone to take a stand for me, and stand in the gap" (Ezekiel 22:30)

God’s ultimate goal for us, however, is that we be truly conformed to the likeness of His Son in our person as well as in our standing… Jesus did not die just to save us from the penalty of sin, nor even just to make us holy in our standing before God. He died to purify for Himself a people eager to obey Him, a people eager to be transformed into His likeness… This process of gradually conforming us to the likeness of Christ begins at the very moment of our salvation when the Holy Spirit comes to dwell within us and to actually give us a new life in Christ. We call this gradual process progressive sanctification, or growing in holiness, because it truly is a growth process.
Jerry Bridges

So what did the Holy Spirit intend by His command not to be bound together with unbelievers? Bound together translates a participial form of the verb heterozugeo, which means, “to be unequally yoked.” Paul drew his analogy from Deuteronomy 22:10, where the Mosaic Law commanded the Israelites, “You shall not plow with an ox and a donkey together.” Those two animals do not have the same nature, gait, or strength. Therefore it would be impossible for such a mismatched pair to plow together effectively. Nothing in the context would lead to the idea that he is referring to earthy issues of human endeavors. In Paul’s analogy, believers and unbelievers are two different breeds and cannot work together in the spiritual realm. He called for separation in matters of the work of God, since such cooperation for spiritual benefit is impossible. The false teachers were eager to blend the people of God with the pagan worshipers, because that hinders the gospel. That is what this text forbids.

INGREDIENTS

Any size prime rib roast; room temp.
Garlic clove
Sesame oil
Salt and pepper

INSTRUCTIONS

Preheat oven to 375. Rub roast with cut garlic clove. Rub with sesame oil
and season with salt and pepper. Place roast on rack in middle of oven.
Roast one hour and turn oven off - do not open oven at any time. May be
held in oven for several hours ( I have only let it in for about 1 1/2).
Before serving, turn oven on again to 375, 30 minutes for rare, 40 minutes
for medium rare. Works for any size prime rib roast. Ask butcher for roast
to serve number of guests.
I prepare using this method and it works every time! Saturday I saw this
prepared on a cooking channel and thought it would complement the roast
nicely.
