We Love God!

It is one thing to love sin and to force ourselves to quit it; it is another thing to hate sin because love for God is so gripping that the sin no longer appeals. The latter is repentance; the former is reform. It is repentance that God requires. Repentance is “a change of mind.” To love and yet quit it is not the same as hating it and quitting it. Your supposed victory over a sin may be simple displacement. You may love one sin so much (such as your pride) that you will curtail another more embarrassing sin which you also love. This may look spiritual, but there is nothing of God in it. Natural men do it every day.

All God’s promises depend upon Christ alone. This is a notable assertion and one of the main articles of our faith. It depends in turn upon another principle – that it is only in Christ that God the Father is graciously inclined towards us. His promises are the testimonies of His fatherly goodwill towards us. Porridge Meat Loaf

INGREDIENTS

1/2	lb	Minced beef
1/2	lb	Minced pork or veal
1		Onion; finely chopped
1		Leek thinly sliced; optional
2	c	Cold porridge
2	ts	Salt
1/2	ts	Pepper
1/2	ts	Savory
1/8	ts	Thyme
1/2	c	Consumme or red wine

INSTRUCTIONS

Thoroughly mix all ingredients in a bowl. Grease a loaf pan, sprinkle with
flour, and shake out excess. Pack in mixture and place in a pan filled with
hot water until water comes 1 inch up side of loaf pan.
Bake at 325 degrees F about one hour, or until top is golden brown. Serve
hot or cold.
NOTES : This is an excellent way to use up leftover porridge. You may find
it worthwhile to cook extra porridge just to make this tasty, moist
Aberdeen specialty.
