We Love God!

God: "I looked for someone to take a stand for me, and stand in the gap" (Ezekiel 22:30)

But how do we get [wisdom]? There are several basic prerequisites. 1. Admit our need. Solomon said, “With the humble is wisdom” (Proverbs 11:2). The humble are those who do not think more highly of themselves than they should. They are willing to admit that they do not have all the answers, that their opinions may not always be right, and that they need to know the mind of God. In other words, they have a teachable spirit. 2. Fear the Lord. The Psalmist said, “The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom” (Psalm 111:10). To fear God is not to cower before Him in terror, but to bow before Him in awe, respect, and total trust in His purposes for our lives. 3. Study God’s Word. By loving God’s Word and meditating on it daily, the Psalmist discovered that he was wiser than his enemies, that he had more insight than his teachers, and more understanding than the aged (Psalm 119:97-100). 4. Pray. “But if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all men generously and without reproach, and it will be given to him” (James 1:5). Sometimes praying for wisdom is the last thing we think to do when we face a knotty problem, a difficult decision, a pressing emergency, or an alarming crisis. The Lord is standing ready to give us His wisdom and we often think about everything we can do to work out the problem except talking to Him about it.

5 lg Portobello mushrooms; (4-5 inches in diameter) or 6-8 small portobellos, stems removed
2 Chipotle chilies in adobo sauce; see cook's notes
3 tb Oyster sauce
1 md Red onion; diced
1 Red bell pepper; cored and seeded, diced
1 Yellow bell pepper; diced
1/4 Anaheim or mild green chili; cored and seeded, diced
Salt and pepper to taste
1 c Shredded Monterey Jack cheese

INSTRUCTIONS

Notes: From Orange County Register.
Cook's notes: Canned chipotle chilies in adobo sauce are sold at Hispanic
markets and some supermarkets.
Preliminaries: Heat oven to 400 degrees.
1. Use 1 tablespoon olive oil to brush on both a baking sheet and on
rounded sides of mushrooms. Place mushrooms rounded side down in a single
layer on prepared sheet.
2. Puree chipotle chilies and oyster sauce in either a blender or food
processor fitted with the metal blade. Lightly brush mixture on the gills
(the inside of the bowl of the mushroom). Remember that the chipotles
(smoked ripened jalapenos) are spicy.
3. Heat remaining 1 tablespoon of oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
Add onion, bell peppers and chili. Cook until onions and peppers are
softened. Remove from heat and season with salt and pepper. Spoon mixture
into mushrooms.
4. Bake in preheated oven for 5 minutes. Sprinkle on cheese and bake 2-3
more minutes.
Presentation: Allow mushrooms to rest for 3-5 minutes before serving.
If serving as an appetizer, cut large portobellos into pie-shaped wedges.
Small portobello pizzas can be served whole. They make a great garnish for
tossed green salads.
