God: "I looked for someone to take a stand for me, and stand in the gap" (Ezekiel 22:30)

Christ has ascended upon high. Think you He would have returned thither with unexpiated sin red upon His garments? Do you suppose He would have ascended to the rest and to the reward of an accomplished work? What! sit at his Father’s right hand to be crowned for doing nothing, and rest until His adversaries are made his footstool, when He has not performed his Father’s will! Absurd! Impossible! His ascension in stately pomp, amidst the acclamations of angels, to the enjoyment of His Father’s continued smile, is the sure proof that the work is complete.
C.H. Spurgeon

The New Testament makes it clear that Jesus never sinned (Heb 4:15; 9:14; 1 Pet 1:19). And although theologians have debated the question of Christ’s impeccability—whether or not he could have sinned—it seems that the answer most consistent with the fullness of the New Testament revelation is that Christ, in fact, could not have sinned. Because the person of Christ is divine, and a divine person, being necessarily good, cannot sin, it seems best to argue for Christ’s impeccability. But this understanding of Christ’s inability to sin need not detract from the biblical teaching that Christ, as a human, was indeed tempted (Matt 4:1–11) and even “suffered” in his temptations (Heb 2:18). There may be better and worse ways of reconciling these two apparently contradictory aspects of the New Testament teaching, but however we attempt to reconcile them, it seems best to hold them both, without seeking to alleviate the tension by diminishing either (Luke Stamps).

INGREDIENTS

1 c Brown sugar
1/2 c Shortening
2 Eggs; separated
1 3/4 c All-purpose flour
1 ts Salt
1 ts Baking soda
1 ts Baking powder
1 ts Ground cinnamon
1 ts Nutmeg
1 ts Ground ginger
1 cn (16 oz) pumpkin -or-
1 1/2 c Fresh pumpkin; cooked and mashed
1/4 c Evaporated milk
1 c Chopped dates
1/2 c Chopped nuts

INSTRUCTIONS

Cream brown sugar and shortening. Add egg yolks, beating well. Mix flour,
salt, butter, baking powder, baking soda, cinnamon, nutmeg, and ginger
together and beat in alternately with pumpkin and milk. Fold in dates and
nuts. Beat egg whites until they hold stiff peaks and gently fold into
batter. Put mixture into a well-oiled or buttered 6-cup mold or souffle
dish. Place a small trivet in a crock pot large enough for the souffle
dish, and add about 1/2 to 3/4-inch of water to the crock pot. If you don't
have a trivet, make uniform balls or a "ring" from aluminum foil, just
thick enough to keep the souffle dish out of the water. Cut a round of wax
paper to fit the top of the souffle dish and lightly grease it so batter
will not stick as it rises, then wrap well with aluminum foil. Put in crock
pot and cook on low 4 to 5 hours.
