We Love God!

God: "I looked for someone to take a stand for me, and stand in the gap" (Ezekiel 22:30)

Yes, we have a responsibility to vote! “When the righteous increase, the people rejoice, but when a wicked man rules, people groan” (Prov. 29:2). Because we do live in a republic where our voice counts (“We the people”), we need to know what is most important according to God’s will and determine the politician that best will uphold it.  It’s impossible to say that religion and politics do not mix. Being “salt and light” does not exempt us from the political world. We should influence it. When Christians choose not to vote we open a vacuum to unrighteous legislation that now provides a greater opportunity for evil to thrive and be imposed on the will of the people, including ourselves and future generations. In the Bible, Joseph and Daniel heavily influenced governing leaders and it greatly benefitted God’s people. Likewise, we are called in Galatians 6:10 to “do good to all people.” Why would we want men and women in the office that will introduce and perpetuate unrighteousness in our society? With the blood-bought freedoms we enjoy as a country, thanks to our military heroes, we cannot sit back and refuse to exercise our rights only to further individuals in the office that will not submit to Divine Law or the Constitution.

What is the one thing that cuts us off from heaven? The answer is unbelief. Not trusting God. Not living “by faith in the Son of God who loved us and gave Himself for us” (Gal. 2:20). So what does [1 Peter 1] verse 5 mean then when it says we are “protected [from losing our final salvation] by the power of God through faith.” It means that God’s power protects us for salvation by sustaining our faith. The only thing that can keep us from heaven is forsaking our faith in Christ, and turning to other hopes, other treasures. So to protect us God prevents that. He inspires and nourishes and strengthens and builds our faith. And in doing this he secures us against the only thing that could destroy us; unbelief, lack of trust in God.

CROATIAN COOKING CORNER
In a cookbook recently purchased, this recipe from Governor and Mrs. Rudy
Perpich of Minnesota was found. This recipe is a Croatian main dish and
represents the ethnic background of the Perpich's family. It was a favorite
of the Governor.
* To sour cabbage: Core a fresh cabbage head and place in boiling water for
10-15 minutes, or until the leaves soften. One to two tbsp. vinegar may be
added to the boiling water to sour the leaves, if desired.
If a soured head of cabbage is not used, place cabbage in large pan of
water, core head and separate leaves. Wash each leaf and drain in colander.
Wash sauerkraut and drain.
Brown onion lightly in fat. Mix with meat, garlic, rice, seasonings and
egg.
Roll a generous portion of meat mixture in each leaf. Cover bottom of large
roasting pan with sauerkraut and place cabbage rolls on top. Alternate
sauerkraut and cabbage rolls ending with sauerkraut. Pour tomato soup on
top (optional) and cover with strips of bacon. Cover with cold water almost
to top.
Bake covered at 350 degrees for 2 hours. Yield: Approximately 22 sarmas.
