We Love God!

God: "I looked for someone to take a stand for me, and stand in the gap" (Ezekiel 22:30)

We all know of those in leadership positions who seem to make vacillation a virtue. This is disastrous. Organizations suffer and even die by indecision, but some people seem to have little or no confidence in their decision-making ability. Are they missing a decision-making gene? No, they lack the courage of their convictions, the discipline of critical thinking, or the confidence of steady leadership.

“Love your neighbor as yourself” (Mt. 19:19) is considered the biblical proof text (for those who need one). When interpreted through cultural spectacles, this verse means that we must love ourselves in order to love other people. But in reality the passage doesn’t even suggest such an interpretation. Jesus spoke of these words to rich young man who clearly loved himself and his possessions too much. There is only one command in the passage, and it is “love your neighbor.” Nobody, including the writers of Scripture, could have dreamed that this passage taught self-love. It took some cultural changes to reinterpret it and turn our eyes inward.

Here is a good recipe using a pressure cooker from Lorna Sass' Cooking
Under Pressure:
Drain and rinse the chickpeas. In the cooker, combine the chickpeas,
coconut milk, garlic, sweet potatoes, tomatoes, curry powder and coriander.
Lock the lid in place. Over high heat, bring to high pressure. Lower the
heat just enough to maintain high pressure and cook for 18 minutes. Allow
the pressure to come down naturally or use a quick-release method. Remove
the lid, tilting it away from you to allow any excess steam to escape. If
the chickpeas are not tender, either return to high pressure for a few more
minutes or replace (but do not lock) the lid and simmer until the chickpeas
are done. Add the basil and soy sauce to taste as you break up the sweet
potatoes and stir to create a thick sauce.
