God: "I looked for someone to take a stand for me, and stand in the gap" (Ezekiel 22:30)

Arguments Opposing Euthanasia: 1. The Sanctity of Life – Human life, because created in the image of God, is sacred. No measure is too extreme, no cost too high, to preserve what God has made. 2. Biblical prohibition vs. life-taking – Killing the innocent is condemned in both the OT and NT. 3. Hope – Medical history is filled with examples of people thought to have incurable/terminal diseases who were later healed when medical knowledge increased. 4. The value of suffering – The Bible says that people grow and mature and deepen in their understanding of and trust in God when they endure suffering. In other words, there is a sanctifying effect in physical suffering. 5. The biblical perspective on death – Death is the final indignity, no matter what form it takes. Death is the last enemy, to be resisted, not embraced. 6. Divine healing 7. The Slippery Slope – “Euthanasia will not be restricted to the terminally ill. Rather, it will be extended to people with varying quality of life circumstances. Opponents [of active euthanasia] fear that candidates for euthanasia will include the nonterminally ill, such as people with Alzheimer's disease or other degenerative brain diseases, the severely mentally retarded, and handicapped newborns” (Rae, 173).

The example of Jesus and the testimony of lovers of Christ throughout the centuries points us to early morning prayer as decisively important… First, it signals to our conscience that this is of first importance in the day. Second, it strikes the first blow in the battle of the day, instead of waiting till we are besieged from all sides. Third, what we do daily and do early shapes the spirit of our minds and brings us into a disposition of humility and trust that will bear better fruit than anxiety or self-reliance. Fourth, since beginning the day with the Word of God is crucial, prayer is equally crucial since the Word will not open its best wonders to us without prayer (Psm. 119:18). Fifth, it is uncanny how Satan can use even good things to squeeze prayer out of our schedule if we miss the early-morning hour. I have seen it again and again. If I say to myself, “I will give some time to prayer later,” it generally does not happen.

INGREDIENTS

2/3 c Soy milk
3 tb Unbleached flour
1/4 c Oil
1/2 c Cocoa
1 c Sweetener of choice
1 ts Vanilla; (a touch of peppermint extract is great!)
1 c Unbleached flour
2 tb Soy flour
1 ts Baking powder
1/4 ts Salt
1 pk (10.5 oz) silken tofu
1/2 c Sweetener of choice
1 tb Unbleached flour
1 tb Lemon juice
2 ts Vanilla

INSTRUCTIONS

BROWNIE LAYER
CHEESECAKE LAYER
Preheat oven to 350
BROWNIE LAYER- Whip together the soymilk and 3T flour. Cook over medium
heat, stirring constantly until thickened. Let cool completely. Beat
together the oil cocoa, sweetener, and vanilla, then beat in the cooled
soymilk and flour mixture. Add 1c flour, soy flour, baking powder, and
salt, and beat until smooth. Spread mixture evenly into a 9" round
spring-form pan.
CHEESECAKE LAYER- Blend the tofu, 1/2c sweetener, 1T flour, lemon juice,
and 2t vanilla in a blender until smooth and creamy. Pour evenly over the
brownie layer, and bake for 1 hour. Cool and serve.
NOTES- I prefere to let it cool several hours or over night. I have used
Low-fat milk for the Soy-milk. Soy Flour- soy flour is available in Natural
Food Stores, and should be stored in the refrigerator or freezer. It is a
heavy flour and may be used in small amounts for baking. It adds moisture
and texture to baked goods; and they tend to turn golden brown more quickly
during baking.
