We Love God!

God: "I looked for someone to take a stand for me, and stand in the gap" (Ezekiel 22:30)

I counted dollars, while God counted crosses; I counted gains, while God counted losses. I counted my worth, my things gained in store; And He sized me up by the scars that I bore. I counted honors and sought degrees, He counted the hours I spent on my knees. I never knew until one day by the grave How vain are the things that we spend life to save.

“Fixing our eyes on Jesus” is perhaps the most important lesson in this athletic metaphor. Any runner in the Greek stadium who took his eyes off the goal and either looked at the crowds, or his competitors, would lose valuable time and concentration. So it is in the Christian life. When we get our eyes off the Lord, and onto others, we are in danger of getting sidetracked spiritually.

NOTES : Variation #2: Don't add the ground beef - makes a delicious
veggie soup for 1 point per serving! Black beans are a great
substitute for the pinto beans, also.
