We Love God!

God: "I looked for someone to take a stand for me, and stand in the gap" (Ezekiel 22:30)

Yet what we as Christians see when we look to the cross is not weakness, but power on display. The power to willingly suffer for the sake of another. The power to hold back wrath when being mocked. The power to rise from the dead. And how was Jesus’ power demonstrated? In meekness, gentleness and humility. And the reason opponents don’t see it in Christ’s servants as a sign of greatness is probably because they’ve never seen it in Jesus.

Whosoever shall confess me before men…(Matthew 10:32). The point to be settled over this verse is straightforward: Is Christ here saying that by an act of confession we become Christians or is He teaching that one indispensable mark of those who are Christians is that they live a life which openly acknowledges Him? Is not the modern evangelistic call to confess Christ by coming to the front, in order to receive Him by faith, a reversal of the New Testament order? To confess Christ is the spiritual duty of a Christian. It is no part of the gospel to say that compliance with certain outward duties will help us to become Christians. Yet the whole invitation system inevitably gives the impression that “confessing Christ” by moving forward is in order to conversion.

CATEGORY CUISINE TAG YIELD
Meats, Vegetables Ckright1 1 servings

INGREDIENTS

3/4 c Red lentils
1/2 c Minced onion
2 ts Minced garlic
4 1/2 c Defatted chicken stock
(or vegetable stock or water)

INSTRUCTIONS

Carefully pick over and rinse lentils. Add onions and garlic to a deep
saucepan and saute in oil until very soft but not browned. Add
lentils and stock or water and bring to a boil. Reduce heat, cover
and simmer gently for 20 to 25 minutes or until lentils are very
tender. Puree mixture with an upright or immersion blender adding
stock or water to yield desired thickness. Season to taste with salt
and pepper. This recipe yields about 2 cups of sauce.
Comments: This is a healthy, almost non-fat "sauce" that uses pureed
lentils to give it richness and body. You can use other lentils too,
such as, white, black, green or common brown. You can add seasonings
and flavorings of your choice, such as, a good toasted curry powder,
chopped herbs, ground pure chile powder, etc.
