We Love God!

God: "I looked for someone to take a stand for me, and stand in the gap" (Ezekiel 22:30)

[According to 2 Cor. 8-9, financial] stewardship with integrity, then, is marked by voluntary, faithful giving, proportionate to what one has, in submission to godly pastors who silence the critics by handling the money faithfully. It is motivated by exemplary love for God and others, and is completely free from selfish greed and covetousness. All giving must be measured by those noble standards.
John MacArthur

Neither can we say the disciples were “seeker sensitive.” In Luke 10:10-16 Christ gave seventy of His most faithful followers specific instructions to symbolically “shake the dust from their feet” as a rebuke to those who do not accept the gospel. He doesn't tell them to try a different method, revise their message, or buddy-up to the people in an effort to win them over. Instead they were to do exactly as Christ had commanded, preaching the gospel He had declared and ministering in His name, no matter what the result. And what about Paul? Hear again Galatians 1:10: “For do I now persuade men, or God? Or do I seek to please men? For if I still pleased men, I would not be a servant of Christ.” Instead of seeking to be a people-pleaser, the true disciple, and thus the true worshipper, mirrors Christ's uncompromising zeal to please the Father.

INGREDIENTS

2 tb Diced unsalted butter; chilled
60 g Walnut halves; (good quality)
150 g Sugar
4 Ripe comice or William pears
1 Lemon; juice of
150 g Ripe blue cheese; cut into small
; wedges (Roquefort
; or Gorgonzola work
; well)
Salt and freshly ground black pepper

INSTRUCTIONS

1 Melt 1 tbsp butter in a large frying pan. Add the walnuts and cook
for a few minutes until toasted, turning and shaking the pan
frequently to prevent any burning.
2 Sprinkle over 1 tbsp sugar and stir until the sugar has completely
dissolved. Turn out onto a plate, season to taste and leave to cool
completely.
3 Peel the pears and remove the cores from the base of each pear,
leaving the stems intact. Slice a little off the base to ensure the
pears stand upright, then toss in the lemon juice to prevent
discoloration.
4 Add the remaining sugar to a heavy- based pan that will comfortably
fit the pears and heat for 5-10 minutes on a medium-high heat until a
medium caramel, without stirring.
5 Drain the lemon juice from the pears and add to the pan, swirling
gently until well combined. Reduce the heat and add the pears, base
side down. Cook for 10 minutes until tender, turning regularly to
ensure even cooking. Remove and arrange on serving plates.
6 Add the remaining butter and swirl until melted and slightly
thickened. Spoon over the pears, surround with the walnuts and blue
cheese, and serve.
