We Love God!

God: "I looked for someone to take a stand for me, and stand in the gap" (Ezekiel 22:30)

God is made to appear frustrated by much modern preaching. This happens in missionary appeals. The idea is left that God needs our help. We are not told that He graciously offers us the opportunity to take part in the great missionary enterprise. No, things have gone much beyond that; in fact, they have gotten out of hand. There may have been a time when God could have made such an offer, but that time is long past. Things are now desperate. A great deal that should have been done for God's cause has not been done. And God is rushing around to make up for lost time. His love has worked Him into a corner, and He needs us to get Him out of it.
A.W. Tozer

It may well be that [we are] denied triumph after triumph because we will not bring to Christ what we have and what we are. If, just as we are, we would lay ourselves on the altar of service of Jesus Christ, there is no saying what Christ could do with us and through us. We may be sorry and embarrassed that we have not more to bring - and rightly so, but that is not reason for failing or refusing to bring what we have and what we are. Little is always much in the hands of Christ.

INGREDIENTS

1 1/2 c Milk
1 c Heavy cream
1/2 Vanilla bean
2 Cinnamon sticks
1 tb All-purpose flour
3/4 c Sugar
6 Eggs
1 ts Minced lemon zest
1 pt Raspberries
1 pt Blueberries
1 Prebaked tart shell; (recipe follows)

INSTRUCTIONS

Heat milk and cream with vanilla bean and cinnamon sticks. Scald and
let cool, then strain out vanilla bean and cinnamon sticks. Into
strained mixture, whisk in flour, sugar, eggs and lemon zest and
transfer mixture to a pitcher or a pour spout.
Assemble berries in pre-baked, room-temperature tart shell.
Raspberries should be top down (with opening down). Tightly packed
but only one layer of fruit.
Pour just enough batter over berries to almost come up even with
fruit. Be careful not to put too much, but enough to fill in all the
spaces and come 5/6ths of the way up the berries.
Bake 15 to 20 minutes at 350 degrees until set and slightly brown on
top.
