We Love God!

God: "I looked for someone to take a stand for me, and stand in the gap" (Ezekiel 22:30)

To deny that Jesus Christ is the only Savior is to deny the utter seriousness of the human condition and the gravity of the offense against God. To deny that faith is the only way by which we may apprehend Christ’s riches is to deny the uniqueness of the person and work of the Savior and to deny the clarity of His Word. At stake when we consider Jesus’ claims to exclusivity is the gospel itself. The stakes could not possibly be any higher.
Tim Challies

So when we call pain a problem, we claim we do not deserve it. We are even prepared to scuttle God to maintain our own innocence. We will say that God is not able to do what He would like, or He would never permit persons such as ourselves to suffer. That puffs up our egos and soothes our griefs at the same time. “How could God do this to me?” is at once an admission of pain and a soporific for it. It reduces our personal grief by eradicating the deity. Drastic medicine, indeed, that only a human ego, run wild, could possibly imagine.

INSTRUCTIONS

FOR THE TOPPING
FOR THE FILLING
Preheat the oven to 375 degrees.
To make the topping, measure the flour, polenta, sugar, salt, baking
powder, and aniseeds into a food processor or a stand mixer fitted
with a paddle attachment. Add the butter and pulseor mix on
medium-low speed until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Transfer
the mixture to a bowl and make a well in the center. Pour the egg
into the well and toss the egg and flour together lightly and
thoroughly with you fingers until evenly mixed. The mixture will not
adhere in the manner of a dough, but will clump together if pressed
in your palm. Set aside until needed.
To make the filling, combine all the ingredients in a large bowl and
toss well until well mixed. Turn into a 2-quart shallow baking dish.
Sprinkle the topping over the filling in a even layer. Do not press
down. Place the dish on a baking sheet to catch the drips and place
in the oven.
Bake until the juices are bubbling up around the topping and the top
is crisp, and golden brown, about 1 hour. Serve with ice cream if
desired.
