We Love God!

God: "I looked for someone to take a stand for me, and stand in the gap" (Ezekiel 22:30)

Faith does not grasp a doctrine, but a heart. The trust which Christ requires is the bond that unites souls with Him; and the very life of it is entire committal of myself to Him in all my relations and for all my needs, and absolute utter confidence in Him as all sufficient for everything that I can require.
Alexander MacLaren

For this implicit faith and total resignation of ourselves to the adorable Providence of God, willing nothing but what he wills, and because he wills it, is a state of mind whose excellency I cannot represent to you; it...makes our weakness as serviceable to us as our strength... Let me, therefore, entreat you to put on this temper; to lay hold of it with all your might; to make everything you hear or see or find in yourself, the world, religion, or Providence, so many fresh occasions of committing yourself to God by a faith without any bounds, a resignation without any reserve.

Salt to taste
55 g Unsalted butter
Grated fresh nutmeg
3 tb Double cream

INSTRUCTIONS

PARSNIP PUREE
Boil potatoes and parsnips in two separate pans of salted water until
cooked through. Drain well. Mash potatoes and parsnips by hand - do not use
blender or food processor as this spoils the texture. Add butter, nutmeg
and cream and beat well to make a fluffy puree. Check seasoning and adjust
if necessary.
Skin the kidneys. Slice in half and cut away the central core. Heat the
butter in a large frying pan and saut. the kidneys for 1 minute each side.
Add the wine and wine vinegar and deglaze the pan, scraping up all the
meaty juices. Reduce by half.
Add the puree, the mustard and the soy and Worcester sauces and stir well
to amalgamate, cooking for a further two or three minutes.
The kidneys should be just pink. Season and check the flavour. Add a pinch
of sugar if necessary and, if you like, a little more Worcester sauce.
Serve the kidneys on the parsnip puree with the sauce poured round.
