We Love God!

God: "I looked for someone to take a stand for me, and stand in the gap" (Ezekiel 22:30)

Love is very much a matter of actions rather than emotions. However, although this emphasis on acts of love is certainly necessary, we can sometimes give the impression that love doesn’t involve any emotion – that it is entirely an act of the will, of one’s duty, regardless of how one feels. We can even promote the “I can love him but I can’t like him” type of attitude. The Bible does not support such an unbalanced concept of love…fervently, fondly, and affectionately (are used in the Bible) to describe the love Christians ought to have for one another… Obviously such a fervency of spirit cannot substitute for loving actions, but surely it should accompany them. We dare not settle for less.

CATEGORY CUISINE TAG YIELD
Grains Italian 1 servings

INGREDIENTS

2 tb Lite soy sauce
1 tb Hot pepper sauce or to taste
2/3 c Barley
2/3 c Wild rice
10 oz Package frozen spinach; thawed, (broccoli works, too)
2 tb Italian herbs
1 1/2 tb Lemon juice
1/4 ts Ground black pepper
1/2 ts Garlic powder
1 c Small white beans; precooked or canned
1 pn Crushed red pepper to taste

INSTRUCTIONS

Bring two cups of water to a boil. Stir in the soy sauce and hot sauce,
then the grains. Bring back to a boil and then lower heat to a simmer,
covered, for 45 minutes or so, until it reaches the texture you enjoy most.
If the mood strikes while the barley and rice are cooking, you could saute
a bit of fresh garlic and onion to add in when the grains are cooked
instead of using garlic powder. When the grains are done, take off the
heat, add in the rest of the ingredients except the red pepper and mix
well. Place in serving dish and sprinkle hot pepper over the top.
This is so fast and so good I've eaten it three days in a row!
Serves: 2 or 3
