We Love God!

God: "I looked for someone to take a stand for me, and stand in the gap" (Ezekiel 22:30)

We are to love our neighbors as ourselves – and that standard of comparison, as ourselves , is often taken as an implicit command to love ourselves. On this view, the wording not only permits self-love but commands it; it not only sanctions self-esteem but reinforces its importance. On the face of it, however, self-love in Mark 12 is merely presupposed, not advocated. To read much of the contemporary literature, evangelical and otherwise, on self-esteem is to inhabit a domain a long way removed from the second great commandment.
D.A. Carson

All divine names and titles are applied to Him. He is called God, the mighty God, the great God, God over all; Jehovah; Lord; the Lord of lords and the King of kings. All divine attributes are ascribed to Him. He is declared to be omnipresent, omniscient, almighty, and immutable, the same yesterday, today, and forever. He is set forth as the creator and upholder and ruler of the universe. All things were created by Him and for Him; and by Him all things consist. He is the object of worship to all intelligent creatures, even the highest; all the angels (i.e., all creatures between man and God) are commanded to prostrate themselves before Him. He is the object of all the religious sentiments; of reverence, love, faith, and devotion. To Him men and angels are responsible for their character and conduct. He required that men should honour Him as they honoured the Father; that they should exercise the same faith in Him that they do in God. He declares that He and the Father are one; that those who had seen Him had seen the Father also. He calls all men unto Him; promises to forgive their sins; to send them the Holy Spirit; to give them rest and peace; to raise them up at the last day; and to give them eternal life. God is not more, and cannot promise more, or do more than Christ is said to be, to promise, and to do. He has, therefore, been the Christian’s God from the beginning, in all ages and in all places.

INGREDIENTS

6 sl Hickory-flavored bacon
3 tb Unsalted butter
1 c All-purpose flour
1/4 c Yellow cornmeal
2 ts Double-acting baking powder
1 Pinches salt
1 1/4 c Buttermilk
2 lg Eggs
2 tb Pure maple syrup
Maple syrup; or honey for
; topping

INSTRUCTIONS

1. The bacon needs to be thoroughly cooked before it can be added to the
batter. You can put the strips in a heavy skillet, place the skillet over
medium heat, and cook the bacon, turning once, until done on both sides. Or
you can cook the bacon quickly in a microwave oven.
2. Preheat your waffle iron. If you want to hold the waffles until serving
time, preheat your oven to 200 F.
3. Melt the butter; reserve. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour,
corn- meal, baking powder, baking soda, and salt to combine. In another
bowl, beat together the buttermilk, eggs, and maple syrup. Pour the liquid
ingredients over the dry ingredients and stir with the whisk until just
blended. Stir in the bacon bits and the melted butter.
4. Lightly butter or spray the grids of your iron, if needed. Brush or
spray the grids again only if subsequent waffles stick.
5. Spoon out a full 1/2 cup of batter (or the amount recommended by your
waffler's manufacturer) onto the hot iron. Use a metal spatula or wooden
spoon to spread it evenly over the grids. Close the lid and bake until well
browned and set. Serve the waffles immediately or keep them, in a single
layer, on a rack in the preheated oven while you make the rest of the
batch.
