We Love God!

God: "I looked for someone to take a stand for me, and stand in the gap" (Ezekiel 22:30)

We are to love our neighbors as ourselves – and that standard of comparison, as ourselves , is often taken as an implicit command to love ourselves. On this view, the wording not only permits self-love but commands it; it not only sanctions self-esteem but reinforces its importance. On the face of it, however, self-love in Mark 12 is merely presupposed, not advocated. To read much of the contemporary literature, evangelical and otherwise, on self-esteem is to inhabit a domain a long way removed from the second great commandment.

I never cease to be amazed by the ingenuity of those who are capable of taking the powerful, life-changing text of Scripture and communicating it with all the passion of someone reading aloud from the Yellow Pages!

    • Miso Bbq’d Beef Short Ribs W/ Ginger Teriyaki Sauce

    INGREDIENTS

    10 lb Beef short ribs; cross-cut 1/4 inch thick, #123c NAMP/IMPS
    3/4 c Mirin or white wine
    3/4 c Japanese soy sauce
    6 tb Japanese miso
    1/4 c White vinegar
    1/4 c Sugar
    2 ts Asian sesame oil
    3/4 c Mirin or white wine
    3/4 c Japanese soy sauce
    1/2 c Sake
    1/2 c Sugar
    2 tb Fresh ginger; grated

    INSTRUCTIONS

    MARINADE
GINGER TERIYAKI SAUCE
Yield: 24 portions (2 cross-cut slices, each)
Trim excess fat from beef. Combine ingredients for marinade and marinate
beef overnight but no longer than 24 hours in refrigerator. Turn frequently
to coat. Remove beef from marinade and grill over hot coal to sear. serve
with Ginger-teryaki sauce, made by combining ingredients in a pan and
boiling down to syrup consistancy.
