God: "I looked for someone to take a stand for me, and stand in the gap" (Ezekiel 22:30)

From the very first, the conviction that Jesus had been raised from death has been that by which (the Christians) very existence has stood or fallen. There was no other motive to account for them, to explain them... At no point within the New Testament is there any evidence that the Christians stood for an original philosophy of life or an original ethic. Their sole function is to bear witness to what they claim as an event – the raising of Jesus from among the dead... The one really distinctive thing for which the Christians stood was their declaration that Jesus had been raised from the dead according to God's design, and the consequent estimate of Him as in a unique sense Son of God and representative man, and the resulting conception of the way to reconciliation.

You are perplexed by the doctrine of God’s sovereignty and election. I wonder that any man believing in a God should be perplexed by these. For if there be a God, a King, eternal, immortal, and invisible, He cannot but be sovereign – and He cannot but do according to His own will and choose according to His own purpose. You may dislike these doctrines, but you can only get quit of them by denying altogether the existence of an infinitely wise, glorious, and powerful Being. God would not be God were He not thus absolutely sovereign in His present doings and His eternal pre-arrangements.

Eggs, Dairy, Grains Choco4 1 servings

INGREDIENTS

1/2 lb Margarine or butter
3 c Sugar
6 Eggs
1 ts Vanilla
3 c Flour
1/4 ts Baking soda
1 c Sour cream
1/2 c Chocolate chips
1/2 c Walnuts; (optional)

INSTRUCTIONS

Use a good, powerful mixing bowl. Cream margarine and sugar together. Add
eggs and vanilla. Alternate dry ingredients with sour cream. Add chocolate
chips and walnuts. Bake in ungreased tube pan at 350 degrees for 1 hour to
1 hour, 10 minutes. Let cool briefly, place on plate or in plastic
container.
This is an incredibly simple yet delicious pound cake. There's a wide range
that you can "bend the rules" on regarding ingredient amounts, so feel free
to play.
This is good warm out of the oven, as it is when cooled, or toasted with
ice cream. I like to make two & put one in the freezer; the frozen one
comes out even denser than the first.
Ingredients are easy to play with: one cup of sugar more or less; up to an
entire bag of chocolate chips. It all depends on your sweet tooth.
