When a leader walks into the room, a passion for truth had better enter with him. Authentic leadership does not emerge out of a vacuum. The leadership that matters most is convictional—deeply convictional. This quality of leadership springs from those foundational beliefs that shape who we are and establish our beliefs about everything else. Convictions are not merely beliefs we hold; they are those beliefs that hold us in their grip. We would not know who we are but for these bedrock beliefs, and without them we would not know how to lead.

After my return to London, I decided to do something to help my brothers in the seminary. I suggested we meet together every morning from six until eight to pray and read the Scriptures. After the evening prayer, my communion with God was so sweet that I would continue praying until after midnight. Then I would go to a brother’s room, and we would pray together until one or two in the morning. Even then, I was sometimes so full of joy that I could not sleep. At six in the morning, I would again call the brethren together for prayer.

Tofu And Lettuce Salad with Chinese Influence

INGREDIENTS

		Lettuce
		Tofu; (cut into small cubes)
		Sunflower seeds
		Pumpkin seeds
		Purple onion; (sliced thinly)
		Soya sauce; (I use tamari)
		Sesame oil
		Crushed garlic
		Fresh ginger; (optional – finely chopped)
		Water; (dilute soya sauce if it is very salty)

INSTRUCTIONS

SAUCE
Make sauce (enough to almost cover all tofu chunks in wok) and pour into
wok (or any pan). Add tofu chunks and cook till almost all liquid absorbed
stirring frequently so tofu does not stick. Add to all other ingredients
and toss well. (I lightly toasted the seeds in the wok before I cooked the
tofu.)
