We Love God!

God: "I looked for someone to take a stand for me, and stand in the gap" (Ezekiel 22:30)

The mark of the false prophet or teacher is self-serving unfaithfulness to God and His truth. It may be that he says what he shouldn’t; but it is far more likely that he will err by failing to say what he should. He will gloss over all the tough questions and issues as did the false prophets in the Old Testament who went around saying, "Peace, peace," when there was no peace (Jer. 6:14). They wouldn't speak the tough word calling for repentance nor suggest that Israel was out of sorts spiritually. Instead they brought groundless comfort, lulling people into a false sense of security so that their hearers were totally unprepared for the judgment which eventually came on them. There are teachers in the church today who never speak of repentance, self-denial, the call to be relatively poor for the Lord's sake, or any other demanding aspect of discipleship. Naturally they are popular and approved, but for all that, they are false prophets. We will know such people by their fruits. Look at the people to whom they have ministered. Do these folks really know and love the Lord? Are they prepared to take risks, even hazard their lives, for Jesus? Or are they comfortable, inactive, and complacent? If so, they are self-deceived, and those who have irresponsibly encouraged their self-deception will have to answer for it. Anyone who is in a position of spiritual leadership who fails to teach the more demanding, less comfortable, “narrow gate” and “rough road” side of discipleship becomes a false prophet.

INSTRUCTIONS

Directions: Preheat oven according to cake mix directions. Butter and flour
a 1 1/2 qt. ovenproof bowl. Prepare cake mix and pour into bowl. Bake for
55 minutes until toothpick comes out clean. Cool in the bowl on a rack.
Remove from bowl and cool completely. Transfer 1/4 cup of vanilla icing to
a icing bag or sandwich bag with corner cut. Set aside. Spread remaining
vanilla icing onto 10 Twinkies. Press a cylinder cookie into the center of
each Twinkie. Place a red M&M above the tip of the cookie. Surround the
remainder of the cookie with brown M&M's. Wrap a strand of licorice around
the M&M's. To the outside of the licorice strand, place one ring of orange
M&M's and a ring of yellow M&M's. Repeat with all Twinkies. These are the
feathers. Invert cake to have flat side down onto surface. For the turkey's
neck, use the remaining Twinkie and cut off 1/3 of the the Twinkie at an
angle. Insert a toothpick into the top of the cake and using a small amount
of chocolate icing, attach the cut side of the Twinkie piece over the
toothpick. Using additional toothpicks, attach smaller leftover piece of
Twinkie to the top side of the larger Twinkie to form head shape. Spread
chocolate frosting over entire surface of cake. Spread the icing to form
feather indentations. Attach 2 long gumdrops to head to form jowl, along
with 1 small orange gumdrop to form beak. Add brown M&M for eye, attaching
with the vanilla icing using pipe bag. Use 6 long orange gumdrops for toes
at base of cake. Attach decorated Twinkies to the top edges of cake. Add
additional chocolate cookies along feather rim and brown M&M's.
