We Love God!

God: "I looked for someone to take a stand for me, and stand in the gap" (Ezekiel 22:30)

Christian, it does not need to be this complicated! Do you really think the infinite lover of our soul has neither the desire nor power to keep you from despair? Didn’t He promise you His joy (Jn. 15:11)? Didn’t He promise you true life? So, not to minimize any of our trials, but when we despair, we can’t blame God. The trial is only made worse through our own choices and ignorance or unwillingness to do it God’s way and His ability to bring joy despite and through the trial (Jas. 1:2). We choose the bad attitude. We choose the unhealthy conversations. We choose to the bad theology. We chose to be ignorant of biblical teaching. We choose to exhibit unbelief in the promises of God.

How can Satan in a subtle way get people to disregard the truth on Sunday morning? How about getting people to think the sermon is entertainment or sitting through an entire sermon for a need to uphold a religious duty? Yeah, nothing about coming prepared to hear God’s Word. According to Satan - I’ll keep them out late on Saturday night. I’ll distract them with Sunday afternoon plans. I’ll have them put way more time into looking good physically than preparing their hearts spiritually before coming to church. I’ll have them arrive late so they can miss the singing to prepare their hearts to receive the truth and then distract others trying to worship when they stroll in. I’ll get them to believe the message is more intended for someone else. I’ll get them to listen for the 1% they disagree with as compared to the 99% they need to know. I’ll convince them that applying what they just heard is optional. And then I’ll get them to forget about what they heard before they even reach their cars.

INGREDIENTS

8 oz Unsliced whole wheat bread; (wholemeal)
1 ts Dried oregano
1 ts Olive oil
12 oz Dried penne pasta
1 tb Olive oil
1/2 c Water
3 Onions
Cut into 1/2-inch-thick slices
And separated into rings
1 Butternut squash; about I lb.,
Peeled and seeded and cut into 1/2 inch
Cubes
1/2 ts Salt
1/2 ts Ground pepper
12 oz Portobello mushrooms; sliced
2 tb Chopped fresh thyme
OR 2 tsp dried thyme

INSTRUCTIONS

To make the croutons, preheat the oven to 2500F. Trim the crusts from the
bread and pull off pieces of bread roughly 1 inch square. In a large bowl,
toss the bread with the oregano and 1 tsp. olive oil. Spread in a single
layer in a shallow baking pan and bake, without stirring, until dry and
crisp, about 40 minutes. Cool completely. Serve now, or cover and store at
room temperature for up to 2 weeks.
Fill a large pot three-quarters full of water and bring to a boil. Add the
pasta and cook until al dente, 10-12 minutes, or according to package
directions. While the pasta cooks, in a large non-stick frying pan over
medium-high heat, heat the 1 Tbls. olive oil and the water. Add the onions,
squash, salt, and pepper and cook, stirring occasionally, until the onions
have wilted and the squash is beginning to soften, about 10 minutes.
Stir in the mushrooms, cover, and cook, stirring once, until the squash and
mushrooms are tender, about 5 minutes. Remove 1 cup of the cooking water,
then drain the pasta thoroughly. Add the thyme and reserved cooking water
to the vegetables.
To serve, combine the pasta and vegetables in a large bowl. Top with the
croutons.
