We Love God!

God: "I looked for someone to take a stand for me, and stand in the gap" (Ezekiel 22:30)

Contemporary Christian literature is awash with the notion that, in order to be effective and successful, we must respond to market forces. In earlier generation, such an approach was unheard of. The tactic employed by Paul in Corinth was far closer to the model of the day. “Jesus Christ and Him crucified.” That was his message. Even though the Corinthians we demanding miracles and wisdom, Paul did not give them what they wanted. Indeed, he continued to supply the one thing they clearly did not want – preaching. He rejected the style and content that was most acceptable in his day… It is not possible to give people what they want to hear and proclaim the message of the Cross at one and the same time.

God will administer loving discipline for wrongdoing in order to keep His children from experiencing even more extreme consequences of sin. This discipline can be quite rigorous, because while the damage of sin unchecked can be so devastating, our wayward impulses can be so strong. There is an appropriate dread of divine discipline that motivates us to avoid sin. Still, in order for discipline to operate properly in the Christian life, we must remember that God’s discipline for his children is never punitive or damaging.

<howle@EbiCom.net> RECIPES USING ANCHO CHILES (by Diana Kennedy)
ANCHOS are the favorite chile for flavoring Chili Con Carne. Toast in
skillet as shown below and either soak and blend to puree, or place in
blender or coffee grinder and make chili powder. One Ancho equals 1
Tbsp. chili powder. TO PREPARE ANCHOS: Toast 4 large Ancho chiles
lightly on a griddle, turning from time to time so that they do not
burn, for 2-4 minutes. Slit chiles and remove seeds, veins and stems.
Put chiles into a bowl and cover with boiling water. Let stand 20
minutes. CHILE-HEADS DIGEST V2 #267 From the Chile-Heads recipe list.
